Sides Motorsports Growing While Adding Second Car at Select Races
Inside Line Promotions - BARTLETT, Tenn. (Nov. 13, 2018) - Jason Sides recently completed his 10th consecutive year with a top-12 finish in the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series championship standings.
However, this year was different than a usual season for Sides, who added a second driver during numerous races. Tim Kaeding piloted a Sides Motorsports entry to seven top-five finishes, including a fifth-place result during the famed Knoxville Nationals hosted by Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.
"Tim's run during the Knoxville Nationals stands out as our biggest highlight," Sides said. "Maybe I need to get some confidence back myself knowing that we have the equipment and we can do it."
Sides improved during the later stage of the season, including posting a seventh-place finish at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., before recording a 10th-place outing during the Tuscarora 50 at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa. He also scored top 10s at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo.; at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn.; at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D.; and at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio.
Sides said he and Kaeding have talked about teaming up in 2019.
"Talking to him and his sponsor they want to do like 28 races," Sides said. "All the West Coast swing during both trips, the Knoxville Nationals, maybe the Kings Royal weekend. We'll get a schedule lined out before the season starts. I'll have him more in the primary No. 7s and I'll run the No. 7ss or straight No. 7 during those races.
"I've talked to a couple of different drivers to run, too. We'll do it with the right drivers. It won't be just anybody."
Sides noted that he plans to kick off his 2019 season next February in Florida during the DIRTcar Nationals.
"I want to say a special thank you to everybody that helps our team," he said. "My family and crew as well as our sponsors continue to keep our team rolling and I'm very grateful for all of the support."

Sides Gains 10 Positions During Season Finale to End Year on Positive Note
Inside Line Promotions - CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 6, 2018) - Jason Sides wrapped up his season with a strong run on Saturday evening during the World of Outlaws World Finals finale at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.
Sides charged from 27th to 17th after using a provisional to start near the rear of the field. It was the second-most cars passed in the 30-lap race and provides momentum to close the season.
"That was pretty good," he said. "It felt like we passed 30 cars. Passing 10 cars is a lot. And it was a lot of good cars that we passed. We had the car a lot better and the track was better. You always want to end on a good note."
The weekend began on Thursday with qualifying for the shows on Friday and Saturday. Sides timed in 16th quickest in his group for Friday's race and 17th quickest for Saturday's event. He didn't start the heat race or C Main on Friday before rallying from 29th to 23 rd in the main event, which was held Saturday afternoon.
"Shane (Stewart) was leading and lapped me," he said. "I was on the bottom and I passed him back a couple of times. We went back and forth. The last time I was coming to the flag stand when he blew a tire out. I beat him to the line to unlap myself, but (the officials) said once I got lapped I was considered lapped the rest of the race. I don't understand that. I passed seven or eight cars and then the caution came out so I had to go back behind those cars. I think we had a top-15 car."
The event concluded on Saturday evening. Sides advanced from sixth to fifth place in a heat race and from 15th to 10th in the Last Chance Showdown before he gained another 10 positions in the main event.
"The track widened out and got better," he said. "There was a top and a bottom. We could get under the cars when they missed the bottom."
Sides ended the season ranked 12th in the World of Outlaws championship standings. It marked the 10th straight season he has placed in the top 12 in the standings.

Sides Rebounds for Top 10 During Tuscarora 50 at Port Royal Speedway
Inside Line Promotions - PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Oct. 30, 2018) - Jason Sides posted his best World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series result at Port Royal Speedway in 15 years last Sunday during the Tuscarora 50.
"That was a night where you wanted to draw big because of how wet the track was," he said. "We were in luck because we got the No. 67. It was split qualifying. We timed in 10th in our group and it turned out after qualifying like that because of the inversion of four in each heat we were on the pole."
Sides finished in the runner-up position in a heat race to lock into the 10 th starting position for the main event.
"We didn't get a very good start in the heat race," he said. "I thought it was decent, but Danny Dietrich was beside me. I tried to stay with him into turn one. It was like our stuff was too cold waiting even with the heater on it. It had that cold transmission feel where it lugged down through there. After the first lap or two it started feeling really good.
"We had a game plan for the main event, but it got thrown out the window when our car pushed like a dump truck going into the first turns. That's the second week in a row it did that. I'm not sure what causes it. It does it with a full load of fuel and with no air on your wings. Nobody else has that problem so I'm not sure what's causing it for me. I fell to the back and watched all the crashes and saw a couple of motors blow up. We kept ourselves on the lead lap until the mid-race red flag. We didn't put as much fuel in it during the break and it seemed like we were pretty good. We worked our way back through there."
Although Sides started 10th, he dropped to the back of the field on the opening lap. He then maneuvered through the field before securing the 10th position in the closing laps. It marked his best finish at Port Royal Speedway since 2003 when he ended seventh.
Sides will wrap up the season this Thursday through Saturday at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., during the World of Outlaws World Finals with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
"At the end of the season we've finally got a handle on some things," he said. "I hate that it's over, but at the same time I'm glad. We can start rebuilding and going for next year."

Sides Seventh During FVP Platinum Battery Shootout at Lakeside
Inside Line Promotions - DODGE CITY, Kan. (Oct. 23, 2018) - Jason Sides highlighted last weekend's World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series doubleheader in Kansas with a seventh-place run on Friday during the FVP Platinum Battery Shootout.
Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City hosted the event, which began with Sides qualifying second quickest. He then won a heat race to advance into the dash. Unfortunately, he pulled the highest number - six - before finishing the dash where he started. That lined him up on the outside of the third row for the A Main.
"It was really good," he said. "We hadn't really done anything different, but it seemed to work good that night. To run sixth in the dash, it wasn't a bad sixth. We were racing with Shane (Stewart). I felt like we were pretty decent and we'd be good for the feature. When they dropped the green it started off really good. After the caution it wasn't as good anymore. The car was a little bit loose and the longer we raced it got more loose trying to hit the bottom. When we came in the left rear tire shrank a little and we came in with more stagger than we went out with. It was still good, but I wonder if we had the same stagger that we left with if we'd have stayed in the top five."
Sides hustled into the top five early, climbing as high as third, and he spent most of the race in the top five before losing a couple of spots late in the feature. His seventh-place finish marked the 15th top 10 of the season for Sides Motorsports.
The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park for the Outlaw Boot Hill Showdown. Sides qualified fourth quickest, but missed a spot into the dash by only one position after placing third in a heat race.
Sides capped the night with a 12th-place result in the main event. It marked only the second time in his last 15 races at the track that he didn't finish in the top six.
"I had such a good run on the start that I got to about fourth or fifth," he said. "When I got to the first corner it was like I was driving a dump truck and it didn't want to turn. It pushed up so hard and wouldn't turn. Seven or eight cars went by. From there it was playing catch up. I'm pretty sure we could have had a top five if that hadn't happened."
Sides heads east to compete this Friday and Saturday at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., during the Tuscarora 50 with the World of Outlaws. His best result in the recent string of Outlaws races at the half-mile oval was last year when he placed 15th.
"I think it will be good," he said. "I hope the weather holds out. With all the improvements they've done it seemed like last year it raced pretty good. Hopefully we can get through there with a good run."

Sides Hoping to Continue Success at Dodge City Raceway Park This Saturday
Inside Line Promotions - ROSSBURG, Ohio (Oct. 16, 2018) - Jason Sides will head to one of his best tracks when the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series invades Dodge City Raceway Park this Saturday for the Outlaw Boot Hill Showdown.
Sides hasn't raced at the 3/8-mile oval since 2015, when he captured his second career Outlaws win at the track located in Dodge City, Kan. His first triumph came in 2011.
"I wish it was a three-day show," he joked. "I can't wait to get there. I feel like we've got a pretty good car there no matter what happens. The track is always good, top, bottom and middle. It's just one of those places I really like."
Sides has recorded a top-six result during 13 of his last 14 races at Dodge City Raceway Park dating back to 2009. Five of those finishes were podiums.
He will begin this weekend on Friday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., for the FVP Platinum Battery Shootout. His career-best result at the track of second place came in 2013.
Sides raced in a pair of Outlaws events last weekend after Friday's race at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill., rained out. The competition began on Saturday at Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute, Ind., during the Wabash Clash.
Sides timed in 17th quickest and advanced a position to finish fourth in a heat race before ending the night 21st in the main event.
"The track widened out a little bit for the feature," he said. "As big and fast as it was some of the guys were running around the top. I tried to make the bottom work. Maybe we weren't tight enough, but we just weren't good enough."
The weekend concluded on Sunday at Eldora Speedway during the Last Call for Them All. Sides qualified 12th quickest in his group. He picked up a position to finish fifth in a heat race before finishing the feature where he started - 19th.
"The groove in turns three and four was right on the fence and in turns one and two was about a foot off the wall," he said. "We experimented to try to make the bottom work and that didn't work out. We went in a different direction than we'd normally do and it just didn't work."

Sides Heading to Fulton Speedway Saturday Searching for Podium Run
Inside Line Promotions - MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (Oct. 1, 2018) - Jason Sides is aiming for his third career podium finish at Fulton Speedway when the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series visits the oval in Fulton, N.Y., this Saturday.
Sides recorded a third-place result during his debut at the track in 2005 and he garnered a career-best second-place finish in 2010. He also has results of 10th in 2014, 17th in 2016 and 12 th last year.
"We want to get back to how we raced there the first couple of times," he said. "It's been a solid track for us. We know we need to qualify well to set ourselves up for a successful night. The last two years it seems like it's been wet and heavy. Hopefully the weather holds out and we can get a racy track all night."
Qualifying put Sides behind the eight ball last weekend during the Champion Racing Oil National Open at Williams Grove Speedway. Sides timed in 12 th quickest in his group on Friday. He then finished where he started - fourth - in a heat race to miss locking into the A Main. A ninth-place result in the Last Chance Showdown was only three positions shy of scoring a transfer.
"In qualifying I felt like I was pretty good, but it wasn't good enough," he said. "The motor ran good, but guys were setting almost record-breaking times. There was no passing as fast as it was, as wet as it was, as narrow as it was. Even the guys that were really good struggled around other cars. The guys who were out front were really good, but when they got behind someone they struggled. So if you didn't qualify in the top few spots and had to start midpack in a heat race or C Main or B Main it was tough to make anything happen."
The weekend concluded on Saturday with Sides qualifying 17th quickest in his group. He was credited with a seventh-place outing in a heat race before he elected not to start the C Main.

Sides Scores Top 10 During World of Outlaws Race at Eldora
Inside Line Promotions - SARVER, Pa. (Sept. 24, 2018) - Jason Sides registered his fifth top 10 of the season with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series last Friday at Eldora Speedway during the BeFour the Crowns Showdown.
"That was like a win," he said. "We haven't seen a top 10 in a while. It gives you some kind of confidence. We were trying some different stuff and it seemed to work at Eldora."
Sides qualified 11th quickest in his group and he advanced a position to finish fifth in a heat race, which locked him into the 17 th starting position for the A Main at the half-mile oval near Rossburg, Ohio.
"We're always doing the same thing," he said. "I went with what I watched in the B Main and what I felt like it needed. It was pretty dang good. We got to eighth. On the last restart the bleeder had turned off. I couldn't hold the bottom the last six or eight laps. When we came in we had too much air in the left rear. I think if that didn't happen we would have finished seventh or eighth, but we're just happy to get out of there with a top 10."
The weekend concluded on Saturday at Lernerville Speedway with the Commonwealth Clash. Sides timed in 22nd quickest and he again gained a position in a heat race to end fifth. This time he started the main event on the outside of the ninth row.
"The track was smooth as glass and was shiny," he said. "I thought maybe the setup we ran at Eldora would work there as well on the bottom. It was decent in turns one and two, but in turns three and four it was too wet. We kept getting way too tight. It'd want to do wheelies as you came of the corner."
Sides advanced a spot to finish 17th.
He will return to action this Friday and Saturday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., for the Champion Racing Oil National Open with the World of Outlaws.
"I always look forward to going there," he said. "The pill draw is the most important because you want to be out early. And then make it through your heat race.
"I also want to offer my thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Greg Hodnett as well as his team. Greg was a great driver and a friend and he will be missed."

Sides Motorsports Nets Pair of Podiums During Gold Cup Race of Champions
Inside Line Promotions - CHICO, Calif. (Sept. 10, 2018) - Sides Motorsports picked up a pair of podium finishes last weekend at Silver Dollar Speedway, where Tim Kaeding finished second both nights during the Gold Cup Race of Champions.
Kaeding qualified second quickest before he won both a heat race and the dash to open the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series action at the quarter-mile oval on Friday. He competed for the top spot early and took the lead on Lap 9, leading eight laps before earning the second-place finish.
"Tim's cars were pretty good the whole time," Sides Motorsports Owner Jason Sides said. "He had an opportunity to win it. Brad (Sweet) was really good on the bottom and Tim couldn't hold the bottom anymore.
"Tim missed the dash, but he got up through there the second night. He got to racing with Shane (Stewart) for a couple of laps back and forth. Once he got free he ran out of laps."
Kaeding capped the weekend by qualifying fifth quickest, placing third in a heat race and maneuvering from ninth to second place in the A Main on Saturday.
Sides also raced during the doubleheader, showcasing a lot of improvement from Friday to Saturday night.
"Either night we didn't qualify very well," he said. "I'm not going up there with a curb like that. We changed some stuff and got it laying left on Saturday. We got more comfortable with the car. It felt really good in the C Main and it felt good enough in the B Main that we could take a provisional. The results didn't show as well as we ran because we went down a lap and passed some guys who didn't, but we were more competitive than the first night."
Sides ended the weekend by advancing from 27th to 20 th in the A Main.
A trio of World of Outlaws shows are on tap this week with races on Wednesday at Placerville Speedway in Placerville, Calif., for the 49er Gold Rush Classic presented by Riebes NAPA and Friday and Saturday at Calistoga Speedway in Calistoga, Calif., for the Wine Country Outlaw Showdown.
"We're going into Placerville with a two-car team again with Tim racing for us," Sides said. "We've been good there before. We ran third there a couple of weeks ago. Even though it's a small track it's not choppy and rough like Chico. Tim just ran second a couple of nights in a row and we've run well at Placerville so hopefully one of us can contend for the win."

Sides Wraps Up Northwest Swing With Best Result of Busy Week at Willamette Speedway
Inside Line Promotions - LEBANON, Ore. (Sept. 6, 2018) - Jason Sides capped a busy week in the Northwest with his best result on Wednesday at Willamette Speedway.
Sides laid down his best qualifying effort of the night with a third-place run, which put him on the pole of a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series heat race.
"We qualified really well," he said. "It got a little greasy around the bottom. On the start of my heat someone pushed me down further than I wanted to go. When we took off I got sideways. It's my fault. I let it happen. We went from sitting on the pole to running fourth by the end of the front straightaway."
Sides placed fourth in the heat, which lined him up 12th in the A Main.
"We were pretty decent early," he said. "We got up to ninth or so, but we got loose as the race went on. Toward the end I missed the bottom in turns three and four. Rico (Abreu) got by and on the last lap Brent Marks got under me. I couldn't hold the bottom any more. As the fuel burned off it got too free."
Sides held on for a 13th-place result.
It was the final night during a four-race swing through the Northwest, which began last Friday at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., during the Outlaw Energy Showdown. Keoni Texeira was in a second entry for Sides Motorsports.
"He went out early on Friday and qualified pretty decent," he said. "He got a lot of laps throughout the weekend so that was good. We didn't have a very good weekend though. We were sidelined by a mechanical problem the first night."
Sides placed 18th on Saturday during the event finale. He then ventured to Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash., on Monday for a show that ended with a 17th-place finish.
The team now heads to California for the Gold Cup Race of Champions this Friday and Saturday at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif. California native Tim Kaeding will be in a second Sides Motorsports entry during the doubleheader.

Sides Motorsports Running Two-Car Team the Next Two Weekends
Inside Line Promotions - BILLINGS, Mont. (Aug. 27, 2018) - Sides Motorsports will field a second entry each of the next two weekends as the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series visits the West Coast.
Keoni Texeira is scheduled to join car owner Jason Sides as drivers this Friday and Saturday at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., during the Outlaw Energy Showdown. Texeira made his debut with the team in late June during a World of Outlaws doubleheader at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.
Sides will be the lone Sides Motorsports pilot next Monday at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash., and on Sept. 5 at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Ore., before Tim Kaeding rejoins Sides Motorsports for the famed Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif., Sept. 7-8.
"It will be great for Keoni to get more laps behind the wheel this weekend at Skagit," Sides said. "Tim has done a great job in a handful of starts with Sides Motorsports this year. Plus, he knows those California tracks really well so I think he can be a contender during the Gold Cup."
Kaeding recently guided a Sides Motorsports sprint car to a fifth-place finish during the Knoxville Nationals earlier this month.
Sides competed in a pair of races with the World of Outlaws last weekend, beginning on Friday at Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, S.D., during the Rushmore Outlaw Showdown. He timed in eighth quickest and placed fourth in a heat race before lining up 11th in the A Main. Sides advanced a few positions early in the race before dropping to a 12th -place finish.
"We can drive through there when the track is pretty decent," he said. "We have to work on getting our stuff better at the end of the race because we fall back toward the end. I got by two of them on the last lap or two to salvage 12th. We need to work on the middle or the middle to the end of each race on being tighter. We're good early and not good enough in the end."
The weekend concluded on Saturday at Big Sky Speedway during the NAPA Auto Parts & Visit Billings presents the Big Sky Brawl at Big Sky Speedway. Sides qualified 11th quickest and finished fourth in a heat race, which lined him up 11th in the main event for the second straight night.
"We were running around 10th or 11th when we had a flat," he said. "I was dropping down to the infield when someone got into me. We went into the pits and got it changed, but we were really loose after that. We didn't realize it bent the front axle so it had the left front dropped down."
Sides salvaged a 15th-place finish.

Sides Earns Top-10 Finish With World of Outlaws in North Dakota
Inside Line Promotions - WEST FARGO, N.D. (Aug. 20, 2018) - Jason Sides posted the 10th top 10 of the season for Sides Motorsports last Saturday during the Duel in the Dakotas at Red River Valley Speedway.
"It was good to have a solid night and to compete for a top 10 both nights last weekend," he said. "We've been learning some things and sticking with what's working right now. Hopefully we can continue learning and improving and we can string together more top 10s throughout the rest of the season."
Sides opened last weekend's World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series doubleheader on Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., during the 2nd Leg of the Northern Tour. He timed in 21 st quickest during qualifying before charging from seventh to third place in a heat race.
"We didn't qualify real well because we were on the wrong spot of the track, but we got through the heat race good," he said. "We had a good run going in the feature. I think we were running seventh or eighth when someone got together with Ian (Madsen) on the frontstretch. I squeezed between them and the wall. It knocked us sideways and got the tail tank and rear bumper. We finished with some damage. After that incident it seemed like we were struggling to hold on."
Sides salvaged a 13th-place result.
The weekend wrapped up the following night at Red River Valley Speedway, where Sides qualified fourth quickest. He spent most of the heat race in second place before he and Madsen swapped the runner-up position, which was also the final spot into the dash, a number of times during the final two laps.
"He got to sliding me," Sides said. "I got him back and he got me back. We did that a few times and the last exchange he was in front of us off turn four. It wasn't terrible finishing third because we started the feature seventh.
"We were pretty decent and got to fifth. We were chugging along. On one of the restarts I tried the top in turns one and two and should have been on the bottom. I tried making something work and just lost a couple of spots. I got back to the bottom. By that time we burned the tires up. The last 10 laps I was just hanging on."
Sides finished ninth, which was his best outing since a seventh-place run on June 8.
He is set to compete this Friday at Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, S.D., during the Rushmore Outlaw Showdown and Saturday at Big Sky Speedway in Billings, Mont., during the NAPA Auto Parts & Visit Billings presents the Big Sky Brawl at Big Sky Speedway with the World of Outlaws.

Sides Motorsports Led to Top Five During Knoxville Nationals by Tim Kaeding
Inside Line Promotions - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 13, 2018) - Sides Motorsports registered a top-five finish last weekend during the 58 th annual 5-Hour Energy Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey's General Stores.
Tim Kaeding joined Jason Sides as members of a two-car team that tackled the prestigious event at Knoxville Raceway.
"Tim did a great job and it was awesome to see him run so well at such a big event," Sides said. "We want to thank Dave Lunstra, Lone Dakota Acres and East River Ag Services for their support."
Kaeding qualified 13th quickest, maneuvered from sixth to second place during a heat race and advanced a position in the main event to finish fourth on Thursday during his preliminary action. That was good enough to rank 10th in overall points out of more than 90 competitors, locking him into Saturday's main event.
He capped the spectacle by maneuvering to a fifth-place finish on Saturday, a night after charging from 11th to second place during the World Challenge.
"Tim has still got it," Sides said. "I guess some people shouldn't be so quick to say he isn't at the top of his game."
Sides timed in 18th quickest during his preliminary night on Wednesday. A seventh-place finish in a heat race was followed by a 16 th-place run in the B Main.
"I tried to make both cars identical all weekend, but we needed to be a little freer than Tim had his car," Sides said.
Sides had his best night of the Knoxville Nationals on Friday when he qualified ninth quickest in his group, placed third in a heat race and closed the night with an 11th-place result. That lined him up toward the back of Saturday's B Main.
"That's pretty tough starting back there knowing you have to make it to the top four to transfer into the main event," he said. "We learned some things last weekend that I think we can apply to future races so that's a positive."
Sides, who was credited with a 20th-place result, will race with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series this Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., during the 2nd Leg of the Northern Tour and Saturday at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D., during the Duel in the Dakotas.

Sides Motorsports Fielding Second Entry During Knoxville Nationals for Tim Kaeding
Inside Line Promotions - PEVELY, Mo. (Aug. 8, 2018) - Sides Motorsports will return to a two-car team this week throughout the 58th annual 5-Hour Energy Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey's General Stores.
Californian Tim Kaeding will join Jason Sides to tackle sprint car racing's biggest event of the season, which is held this Wednesday through Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.
"Tim did a great job driving for us earlier this season in California and he's had a lot of success at Knoxville so we're all excited about this week," Sides said. "The goal is to put both of our cars into Saturday's A Main."
Sides, who was the 2001 Rookie of the Nationals, has advanced into the Knoxville Nationals A Main seven times including last year. His best result came in 2010 with a 12th-place result.
Kaeding also has seven A Main starts at the Knoxville Nationals. His top performance was a fourth-place outing in 2009.
Sides competed last weekend with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 during the Ironman 55, which featured a 55-lap main event on both Friday and Saturday.
"It was a tough deal all weekend, but we ended on a positive note," he said.
Sides overcame a 22nd-place qualifying run on Friday by advancing from eighth to sixth place during a heat race at the high-banked oval. He capped the night with a 16th-place finish in the A Main.
The weekend wrapped up on Saturday with Sides timing in 15th quickest in qualifying. He finished eighth in a heat race and fifth in the Last Chance Showdown before maneuvering from 23rd to 15 th in the main event. It was the third-most cars passed.
"We've had success in Pevely, but qualifying put us behind the eight ball both nights," he said. "It was good to make progress on Saturday in the A Main and move forward. Now we're looking forward to the opportunity this week presents at the Knoxville Nationals."

Sides Tackling Ironman 55 Twice This Weekend With World of Outlaws
Inside Line Promotions - WEEDSPORT, N.Y. (July 30, 2018) - Jason Sides has a pair of $20,000-to-win showdowns on tap this weekend.
Sides and the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series invade Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., for the annual Ironman 55 - a 55-lap feature that is the longest race of the year on the World of Outlaws schedule. However, this year there is a twist as Friday's preliminary night will also be a 55-lap event with a stout payday to make up for last year's rainout.
"I like the place," he said. "The bad thing is at Ransomville last weekend we lost a motor. We stopped in Fremont this morning to pick up a pair of fresh engines for Knoxville, but one wasn't done. We only have one with us. Usually that race is pretty hard on everything. Fifty-five laps is a long time on that little track. It's a fun track, but it's tough on equipment."
Sides was victorious at the high-banked oval in 2012 and he posted a runner-up result in 2015 to highlight the last few appearances. He was 10 th last year during his only visit.
Sides could use a strong performance after he endured a frustrating weekend in New York. He qualified third quickest and was on his way to a heat race win last Friday at Ransomville Speedway in Ransomville during the Big 'R' Outlaw Shootout before mechanical problems forced him to the pits early.
"We really struggled in hot laps so we made a few changes and ended up qualifying really good," he said. "Then we were really good in the heat race. You never know what could have been.
"I felt it and smelled it. I was worried about the engine. I could almost tell something was going wrong with it, but I wasn't sure. As soon as I felt it tie up I pulled it out of gear to keep it from blowing up."
The crew replaced the engine prior to the A Main, in which Sides rallied from 21st to a 12th-place finish. It was the second-most cars passed.
The weekend concluded on Sunday at Weedsport Speedway during the Empire State Challenge.
"We battled a lack of grip," he said. "We went from one extreme to the other and tried everything in the world. It caught us off guard after typically being a little wet and sticky. The track was shiny and powdery slick during hot laps. We came back in before qualifying and we changed some nozzles trying to detune the engine and tighten the car. None of it worked. It was like driving on glass."
Sides timed in 20th quickest, placed seventh in a heat race and ended the night 20th in the main event.

Sides Eyeing Trio of World of Outlaws Shows in New York This Week
Inside Line Promotions - MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (July 23, 2018) - Jason Sides is bound for New York for a week of competition with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
Sides and 'The Greatest Show on Dirt' will compete on Wednesday at Airborne Park Speedway in Plattsburgh; on Friday at Ransomville Speedway in Ransomville for the Big 'R' Outlaw Shootout; and on Sunday at Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport for the Empire State Challenge.
"We've never been to Airborne Park Speedway and we don't have many laps at Ransomville or Weedsport," he said. "It's good because you don't have any bad habits, but at the same time you don't have as many notes to go off. In hot laps you try to take it all in and make a calculated guess of what you need to do for the rest of the night."
Sides competed last week in Pennsylvania with the action beginning on Tuesday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver during the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup. He qualified 24th quickest, but powered from sixth to fourth place in a heat race to lock into the A Main.
"We hot lapped good," he said. "When we got ready to qualify the frontstretch of the track was wet and the backstretch was dry. You had to fine tune it to get through the wet, but also the dry slick. I didn't get through turns one and two as well as I needed. I thought I was up there, but I wasn't far enough up there.
"We made progress in the heat and in the feature we were going pretty good, but halfway through we got really loose. The last 10 laps we got going again. Once the leader went by we were just as good as second and third place once the track cleaned off on the bottom."
Sides ended with a 16th-place result.
He resumed competition on Thursday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown during the Gettysburg Clash.
"Lincoln is a track we've always struggled at," he said. "The beginning of the night went well. We drew an early number and got a good qualifying lap. I didn't move around enough in the heat and got passed by (Danny) Dietrich for the win, but we made it into the dash."
Sides qualified fourth quickest overall, placed second in a heat race and scored a third-place outing in the dash to start the A Main on the inside of the second row.
"It was probably my fault in the feature with the way our car handled," he said. "The car was so good early I didn't want to change a lot. We put new tires on and didn't make many adjustments. It got loose in the feature. In turns one and two I could hold my own, but in turn four it would hang real bad. It was my fault for not making better adjustments."
Sides held on for a 15th-place result.
The weekend wrapped up on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway, which hosted the Summer Nationals and the Morgan Cup.
"We were pretty decent hot lapping, but I think we just dropped the ball and forgot to put fuel in it for qualifying," he said. "Typically we put 10 gallons in at the start of the night and that's fine. We ended up pacing around in hot laps a few laps before we got on the gas. We got sidetracked and didn't remember to check the fuel before qualifying. In turns one and two we took off, but in turns three and four it spit and sputtered. Qualifying messed us up for the night. I'll take the blame for it."
Sides timed in 23rd quickest. He ended ninth in a heat race before a fourth-place finish in the Last Chance Showdown earned a transfer into the back of the main event. Sides capped the night by maneuvering from 22nd to a 19th in the A Main.
Saturday's show at Williams Grove Speedway rained out.

Sides Earns Spot in Kings Royal A Main Thanks to Great Qualifying Effort
Inside Line Promotions - ROSSBURG, Ohio (July 16, 2018) - Jason Sides is in the heat of the summer as the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series schedule has ramped up.
Sides raced four times in Ohio last week, culminating with one of sprint car racing's biggest events - the 35th annual Kings Royal.
"Qualifying is probably the biggest factor on whether you will have a great night," he said. "We didn't have a great qualifying effort for the first three nights last week, but we laid down a great lap on Saturday during the Kings Royal."
Qualifying buried Sides last Tuesday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica during the Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic. He produced a better time on Thursday at Eldora Speedway during the opening night of the Kings Royal weekend.
Sides timed in ninth quickest in his group and finished fifth in a heat race to lock into the A Main. He capped the night with a 19th -place result in the feature.
A 12th-place qualifying performance in his group and a sixth-place heat race run led to a 10th-place result in the Last Chance Showdown on Friday at Eldora Speedway.
However, it all turned around on Saturday during the final night of the Kings Royal. Sides qualified third quickest out of more than 50 competitors at the half-mile oval. He was unable to secure a lock-in position to the $50,000-to-win main event through a heat race, but since he was the fastest qualifier to miss a lock-in position he was awarded the 19th starting position into the 40-lap race.
"We qualified too well for the heats, but it worked out because it was a great enough time overall," he said. "It's great to make the Kings Royal A Main. However, it's tough when you're starting so far back."
Sides capped the event with a 20th-place result. His A Main start was his seventh in the last 10 years.
The hectic schedule continues this week as Sides will compete on Tuesday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., during the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup; on Thursday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa., during the Gettysburg Clash; and on Friday and Saturday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., during the Summer Nationals with the World of Outlaws.

Sides Opening Month of Money This Week in Ohio
Inside Line Promotions - NEW RICHMOND, Wis. (July 9, 2018) - The 'Month of Money' has arrived for Jason Sides, who has four races in Ohio on tap this week.
The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series action begins on Tuesday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica for the Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic before Eldora Speedway near Rossburg hosts the 35th annual Kings Royal Thursday through Saturday.
"I'm looking forward to it," he said. "Attica hasn't been one of our better tracks, but we've had some good runs at Eldora. We need to have a good qualifying effort each night and go from there."
Sides captured the $50,000-to-win Kings Royal in 2004. He's made the A Main during the marquee event during six of the last nine years, including two straight.
Sides tackled a doubleheader last weekend at Cedar Lake Speedway during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown. He qualified 15th quickest on Friday before a charge from fifth to third place in a heat race lined him up ninth for the A Main.
"You could run anywhere on the track," he said. "It was a good track all throughout the night. There was a top and bottom. It made for a good race all the way through."
Sides battled for a top 10 throughout the race before ending 11 th.
The weekend concluded on Saturday. Sides timed in 17th quickest in qualifying, placed fifth in a heat race and netted a 13th -place result in the A Main.
"I felt pretty decent," he said. "We started where we left off Friday. I thought we were going to be pretty good, but I went in there and pushed up the track on the first lap of the main event. It seemed like I fell back three or four spots on that first lap. I fought to get back to where I started. By the time I did the race was over."

Sides Improves Throughout World of Outlaws Doubleheader at Knoxville
Inside Line Promotions - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 3, 2018) - Jason Sides took advantage of a lot of laps last weekend at Knoxville Raceway, which hosted the Brownells Big Guns Bash with the World of Outlaws.
Sides improved his qualifying result and feature finish between the first and second nights of the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series doubleheader at the half-mile oval.
The opening round on Friday began with Sides qualifying 11th quickest in his group. He powered from sixth to fourth place in a heat race to lock into the 14th starting position for the main event, which he ended 20th.
"We made some changes for the second night and we were pretty decent," he said. "It seemed like we were too tight early. As the fuel burned off we got better. I think we got a good handle of where we need to be qualifying and race-wise."
Sides timed in seventh quickest in qualifying before a fourth-place outing in a heat race lined him up 14th in the A Main for the second straight night. He officially gained one position to place 13th.
"We went with notes from the past, but we tried some stuff on Saturday to make the car not roll under on the right rear," he said. "I wish we ran there a couple more times before the (Knoxville) Nationals so you can get a better handle on it."
Sides also had a second entry both nights with Hawaii native Keoni Texeira behind the wheel. Texeira placed 14th in the Last Chance Showdown on Friday and 15th in the LCS on Saturday. It marked his first weekend racing a 410ci winged sprint car.
"I thought he did a good job," Sides said. "He wanted to get some laps at Knoxville in a 410 and did just that."
Sides returns to action this Friday and Saturday at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown with the World of Outlaws.

Sides Motorsports Preparing Two Entries for World of Outlaws Weekend at Knoxville Raceway
Inside Line Promotions - BEAVER DAM, Wis. (June 26, 2018) - Jason Sides returns to Knoxville Raceway this weekend for a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series doubleheader.
Sides Motorsports will have two entries during the two-day event at the half-mile oval in Knoxville, Iowa. Keoni Texeira, who hails from Hawaii, will make his World of Outlaws debut in a second No. 7s sprint car.
"We're excited to have two cars out there again like we did in California earlier this season," Sides said. "We just got a fresh engine back. I'm hoping it goes well in qualifying. Knoxville is like Jackson Motorplex. We were pretty decent there a couple of weeks ago so I'm hoping the same thing can happen at Knoxville and we can learn some things for the Knoxville Nationals."
Last weekend's World of Outlaws action began with a rain out on Friday at Farley Speedway in Farley, Iowa, on Friday before teams ventured to Beaver Dam Raceway on Saturday for the Jim "JB" Boyd Memorial presented by Karavan Trailers.
Sides qualified 20th quickest, placed seventh in a heat race, ended third in the Last Chance Showdown and capped the night with an 18 th-place result in the A Main.
"The track was heavy and wet and fast," he said. "It wasn't very wide at all. If you don't get a good lap in qualifying that's about it. Last year it was the same situation where it was wet. We were quick time and started seventh and went backwards. So many times as the night goes on the track tightens up. We thought we freed up enough and it wasn't enough. You had to be up on the top and we were too tight. On the red flag we changed a bar and freed it up more. It was better, but when you start in the back and get lapped already you don't race the same. When there's a race going on and you're not involved you don't want to be in the way."
Sides also wants to offer his thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of fellow World of Outlaws driver Jason Johnson, who passed away last weekend.

Sides Looking Forward to Fresh Engine for Upcoming World of Outlaws Races
Inside Line Promotions - MINOT, N.D. (June 19, 2018) - Jason Sides will have a fresh engine in when he tackles a pair of World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series shows this weekend.
Sides has battled tired engines the last couple of weeks, including during a doubleheader in North Dakota last weekend.
He qualified 32nd quickest before charging from eighth to fifth place in a heat race on Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks during the Northern Tour. Sides capped the night with a 20th -place run in the A Main.
The weekend concluded on Sunday at Nodak Speedway for the Magic City Showdown. Sides timed in 16th quickest before he finished sixth in a heat race and 16th in the main event.
"With the Outlaws format you have to qualify well and start near the front," he said. "We should have a better shot at it this weekend with a fresh engine."
Sides is scheduled to make his debut at Farley Speedway in Farley, Iowa, on Friday.
"You get there and try to match it with something you've run and go from there as far as gears and setups to have a starting point," he said.
The weekend will wrap up on Saturday at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis., for the Jim "JB" Boyd Memorial presented by Karavan Trailers. Sides has earned three top 10s in his last five visits to the track.
"We've had some good runs, but it seems like we're too tight all night lately," he said. "I'm going to go in there and plan on keeping myself freed up so I'm not so tight."

Sides Delivers Top-10 Result During AGCO Jackson Nationals Finale
Inside Line Promotions - JACKSON, Minn. (June 12, 2018) - Jason Sides posted a pair of top-10 finishes last weekend during the 40th annual AGCO Jackson Nationals, including a ninth-place outing on Saturday when the finale paid a whopping $40,000 to win.
"From the last three or four weeks I'm tickled just to get some races in without getting rained out," he said. "I applaud Tod Quiring for putting on a race like that with a purse like that. It was a great purse for everybody. There needs to be more races like that."
The opening night of the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series tripleheader was rained out on Thursday. Sides kicked off Friday's action by qualifying second quickest in his group. A runner-up result in a heat race earned a spot into the dash. Sides placed fourth in the dash to line up on the outside of the second row for the A Main.
"It was hard to pass," he said. "Therefore, qualifying was the key there. We were in a good position all night. We got going and I was getting to my line on the bottom. Another driver had gone to the top and he turned to come across. I had to check up and when I did that I got tight and went over the cushion. Brian Brown and David Gravel got by. That was about halfway through that race. I learned to lag back on restarts so you keep some air on the wing so you won't get tight."
Sides placed seventh during the first round.
He returned to the track on Saturday afternoon for the show that was postponed by rain on Thursday. Sides timed in fourth quickest in his group and placed third in a heat race to line up 11th for the main event.
"On the start it got the track really dirty," he said. "When I was running the top either I was not committed to the curb or there was some rubber up there. About halfway through the race it was like a light switch and I went backwards. When I came in both rear tires were completely bald. You could see the strings coming out. The guys beside me had some tread left. Either I was in the rubber too early or I was grinding them off."
Sides held on for a 19th-place result.
The event concluded that night with Sides winning a heat race and ending eighth in the dash to garner the eighth starting position for the 40-lap feature.
"We lost a spot on the start," he said. "Then one guy jumped across and spun and almost hit me. I gained a spot there. On the slide jobs going into turn one you had to be careful not to open it too much and let someone get underneath you."
Sides battled inside the top 10 throughout the race before ending ninth.
Last week's action began on Tuesday at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Ill., for the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown. Sides qualified 24 th overall, rallied from eighth to fifth in a heat race and capped the night with an 18th-place run.
"Fairbury was kind of different," he said. "They had the track really wet and we weren't very good. I've been too tight lately on the smaller tracks. I can't get myself freed up enough to get around the track. By the time I do it's too late."
Sides will head to North Dakota for World of Outlaws shows on Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks for the Northern Tour and Sunday at Nodak Speedway in Minot for the Magic City Showdown.

Sides Excited for AGCO Jackson Nationals This Week at Jackson Motorplex
Inside Line Promotions - WILMOT, Wis. (June 4, 2018) - Jason Sides has had this week circled on the calendar since the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series schedule was released.
Sides and the Outlaws will invade Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., Thursday through Saturday for the 40th annual AGCO Jackson Nationals. The finale pays $40,000 to win and $3,000 to start, making it one of the biggest payouts of the season.
"I'm looking forward to Jackson," he said. "I like the facility and the race track. I think Tod (Quiring) does a great job promoting it and trying to make this event bigger and bigger. We need more guys like that."
Sides placed seventh and fifth, respectively, during the two preliminary nights last year. That locked him into the feature during the finale. He ran third early before tire woes relegated him to a 14th-place result.
He was a winner at the track in 2012 during an Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions event.
This week's action begins on Tuesday at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Ill., during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown. It will be the World of Outlaws debut at the track.
Sides and the Outlaws competed twice last weekend. The competition started on Friday at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Mich., during the Rumble in Michigan. He qualified 12th quickest and placed fourth in a heat race, which started him on the outside of the sixth row in the A Main.
"At one point I was up to sixth or seventh," he said. "If you slowed up and hit the bottom it was good. Early on with the full fuel load it would help me stick the bottom. Late in the race we got looser and looser after the fuel burned off. I think the bottom gave up a little later in the race, too. On a couple of restarts we went backwards. We didn't get the result we were looking for after driving up to sixth."
Sides ended with a 12th-place result.
The weekend concluded on Saturday at Wilmot Raceway for the Badger 40. Sides timed in 11th quickest. He started fourth in a heat race, but had to take evasive action to avoid a crash and that dropped him to a seventh-place finish. He won the rain-shorted Last Chance Showdown to transfer into the rear of the main event.
"After the rain came the track was wet and sticky," he said. "We freed the car up and it wasn't bad when I was by myself. When you're running behind someone it'd get up on the right front. You run in there so slow on a small track like that. You get in there and if the guy in front of you is going slower you're trying to turn and be on the brakes at the same time and it pushes up on the right front."
Sides advanced to a 15th-place finish.

Sides Ready for World of Outlaws Debut at Fairbury American Legion Speedway
Inside Line Promotions - LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. (May 29, 2018) - Jason Sides is excited to try out a new track this week when the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series makes its debut at Fairbury American Legion Speedway on Wednesday.
The quarter-mile oval will host the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown, which will be the first of three World of Outlaws races this week.
"It's always fun to go to a new track," Sides said. "It's a great way to test yourself and it really levels the playing field for everyone since nobody has any experience there."
Sides will also compete on Friday at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Mich., during the Rumble in Michigan and Saturday at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis., during the Badger 40. He won a World of Outlaws race at I-96 Speedway in 2011 and holds the track record there.
"We have more experience at I-96 and Wilmot," he said. "I think I-96 has been my most successful track on this week's schedule. It's always an extra confidence boost to go to a track where you've won."
Sides competed in a pair of World of Outlaws races during the last week. He invaded The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., during the Outlaw Showdown last Friday. Sides qualified eighth quickest and placed fifth in a heat race before ending the night with a 19th-place result in the main event.
"We laid down a good qualifying lap, but went backwards a bit in the heat race and the main event," he said. "The bottom was good for a while in the main, but then it started to go away and the top was the preferred lane. It was really tough to get going back there in traffic the whole race."
Sides competed on Monday at Lawrenceburg Speedway during the Memorial Day Spectacular presented by KOI Auto Parts. He timed in 28th quickest in qualifying before ending seventh in both a heat race and the Last Chance Showdown.
"It's all about qualifying," he said. "You can't expect to drive up through the field so you have to set yourself up for success with a good qualifying result and we weren't able to do that."

Sides Aiming for Strong Runs in North Carolina and Indiana This Weekend
Inside Line Promotions - BRIDGEPORT, N.J. (May 23, 2018) - Jason Sides is waterlogged after losing four more World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series races to wet weather.
A trio of events last week in Pennsylvania and one earlier this week in New Jersey rained out, meaning 15 nights of racing for the Outlaws have been either postponed or cancelled because of rain this season.
The next opportunity to compete is this Friday at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., during the Outlaw Showdown before traveling to Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Ind., for Monday's Memorial Day Spectacular presented by KOI Auto Parts.
"We've had some decent runs in Charlotte," he said. "I always enjoy it. Momentum is key there and you have to qualify well because it's so fast and can be tough to pass. It's not that big of a track, but it still races really fast."
Sides earned a career-best runner-up result at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in 2013. He's also placed second at the oval in 2009 and he has five top fives and 15 top 10s there dating back to 2007.
His last top-10 at Lawrenceburg Speedway came in 2012 when Sides rallied from 17th to 10th in the main event.
"We haven't been very good there at all in the past," he said. "We've had a couple of DNFs there and have struggled. That's a track I need to do better at so hopefully we can turn it around on Monday."

Sides Taking on Pennsylvania Posse This Week as World of Outlaws Invade Central Pennsylvania
Inside Line Promotions - HAUBSTADT, Ind. (May 15, 2018) - Jason Sides is Pennsylvania bound for a trio of World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series races if Mother Nature allows.
Sides and the Outlaws will venture to Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown on Wednesday for the Gettysburg Clash before invading Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg for the Morgan Cup. Sides claimed the prestigious Morgan Cup in 2011 and he's placed 10th during the famed National Open each of the last two years at Williams Grove Speedway.
"You know it's going to be a tough week of racing when you head to Central Pennsylvania," he said. "We've had some good runs and the key is getting qualified well, which is essentially the key everywhere. Everyone is so even and tough to pass these days you need to set yourself up for success by starting toward the front."
Sides is coming off a roller coaster weekend, which began last Friday when he hurt an engine during qualifying at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio. He scratched from the remainder of the program.
A fresh engine was what was needed for Saturday when Sides qualified sixth quickest overall before he finished second in a heat race to advance into the dash.
"After the way Friday went we needed to have a solid night on Saturday," he said. "We got timed in well and did what we needed in the heat to make the dash."
Unfortunately, Sides drew the second-highest number during the dash draw to start on the inside of the last row. He finished eighth to line up on the outside of the fourth row for the A Main.
"The bottom was good and the top was good," he said. "It was a pretty racy track. We held our own on the bottom for most of the race."
A late-race restart cost Sides a couple of positions and he was narrowly edge at the line for a top-10 finish.
The weekend concluded on Sunday at Tri-State Speedway, where Sides timed in 16th quickest in his group during qualifying. He ended ninth in a heat race before advancing from 11th to seventh in the Last Chance Showdown, which was only three positions shy of transferring into the main event.
QUICK RESULTS -
May 12 - Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio - Qualifying: 6; Heat race: 2 (2); Dash: 8 (7); Feature: 11 (8).

Sides Excited to Return to Eldora Speedway and Tri-State Speedway This Weekend
Inside Line Promotions - SALINA, Okla. (May 8, 2018) - Jason Sides is heading to a track where he's won a pair of World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series events during his career.
Sides and the series will compete at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, this Friday and Saturday. Sides scored feature victories at the oval in 2004 and 2009, including capturing the famed Kings Royal during that first win.
"I like racing there," he said. "We've had some good runs. We need to have a good qualifying effort and that is what will set us up for success."
Sides has posted at least one top-10 result at the half-mile oval during three of the last four seasons.
He will wrap up this weekend on Sunday at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind., where Mother Nature has forced the first two attempts to be postponed. He has earned a top-10 finish during three of his last six races at the bullring.
"Hats off to them for trying to get it in," he said. "We had so many rainouts early in the season we need to try to get as many of these races in."
Sides competed twice in the Midwest last weekend with the World of Outlaws. The action began on Friday at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., where Sides qualified 11th quickest, placed fifth in a heat race after being involved in a crash and ended 14th in the A Main.
"We weren't too bad in the heat race, but Kraig (Kinser) had a good run and got by Shane (Stewart) and myself going into turns one and two," he said. "It was a little drier in turns three and four and he spun around and collected us. We restarted at the back and got back by another car to make the A Main. Then the feature wasn't bad, but we needed to start further up front."
Sides ventured to Salina Highbanks Speedway on Saturday. He timed in 14 th quickest in qualifying, finished fifth in a heat race and closed the night with a 15th-place run in the main event.
"The track was already getting shiny so we left some used tires on there," he said. "It took rubber around Lap 5 or Lap 6. Once it starts laying rubber you can't really run it much harder because you worry about it blowing out. The used tire made it 28 and ¾ laps before it blew out."
QUICK RESULTS -
May 4 - Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo. - Qualifying: 11; Heat race: 5 (4); Feature: 14 (14).
May 5 - Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Okla. - Qualifying: 14; Heat race: 5 (5); Feature: 15 (14).

Sides Venturing to Lake Ozark Speedway and Salina Highbanks Speedway This Weekend
Inside Line Promotions - MESQUITE, Texas (April 30, 2018) - Jason Sides is tackling a pair of Midwest races this weekend with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
Sides will return to Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., on Friday for the first time since 2007 before the weekend wraps up on Saturday at Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Okla., during the Outlaw Twister Showdown.
"We haven't raced at Lake Ozark for a long time so it should be a fresh slate for everyone," he said. "That will make it an even playing field so we're looking forward to it."
Sides competed at the bullring in 2005 and 2007, when he recorded his best result of 19th. His top finish at Salina Highbanks Speedway was seventh in 2011.
Sides is coming off a busy weekend in Texas, which began on Thursday at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige. He qualified 14th quickest, placed eighth in a heat race and finished 11th in the qualifier before ending the main event 14th.
"We weren't very good at Cotton Bowl," he said. "It's a small track with long straightaways and short corners. At the end of the day I wasn't very good. It didn't help that I hit an infield tire so the steering wasn't so great the last half of the race."
The team ventured to Devil's Bowl Speedway on Friday for the first night of the Texas Outlaw Nationals. Sides timed in seventh quickest before he ended fifth in a heat race.
"We were pretty tight in the heat and we lost two positions," he said. "That put us back a little bit for the A Main. I freed up a bit for the feature. About 10 laps in the track started getting shiny and everybody moved to the top. We were too free."
Sides held on for a 16th-place finish.
He wrapped up the weekend on Saturday at Devil's Bowl Speedway, where he qualified ninth quickest, placed third in a heat race and capped the night with a 13th-place result in the A Main.
"The next night they tilled the bottom and we were a little more prepared for the track in the feature," he said. "It was an odd weekend because it was wet most of the night, which you don't get a lot in Texas. We didn't have the best results, but it was good we got three races in."
QUICK RESULTS -

Sides Scores Best Finish of the Season With World of Outlaws During Spring Classic
Inside Line Promotions - PEVELY, Mo. (April 23, 2018) - Jason Sides recorded his best result of the season on Saturday at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 during the Spring Classic.
The night began with Sides setting quick time during World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series qualifying for the first time this season. He then won a heat race from the pole position to earn a spot into the dash.
"It started off like it's supposed to," he said. "We had a good run to get qualified. That puts you in a position to win the heat and get in the dash. Then we drew the wrong position in the dash."
Sides pulled the second-highest number - seven - during the dash redraw, which lined him up on the inside of the fourth row for the dash. He advanced two positions to place fifth.
Sides ran fifth for the first part of the main event before he passed Donny Schatz for fourth place exiting turn two. Unfortunately, a caution came out before the lap was completed. Soon after restarting the race the track took rubber and passing was at a premium.
"One time I ran in on the guy in front of me and he checked up more than I anticipated, which got me tight," he said. "I pushed out of the rubber and someone got by me for fifth. We ran sixth the rest of the race.
"I wanted a top five, which would be like a win for us right now. We just missed it by one spot. But sixth for the track and everything that happened was good. It was new dirt and they weren't sure what it was going to do. With that many cars it put a toll on it."
The sixth-place result was Sides's best finish of the season and was a step forward after how the weekend began the previous night at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark. Sides qualified 21 st quickest before he ended fifth in a heat race to lock into the 17th starting position for the A Main.
"That place got so slick and was up against the wall in qualifying," he said. "I was trying to be a little conservative and we didn't get as good of a qualifying lap as we needed. Qualifying is what sets your night up and is so important. We made it through the heat. Then the feature was pretty good. There was a lot of racing going on."
Sides rallied from 17th to a 12th-place result.
Sunday's race at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind., rained out.
This week features action on Wednesday at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, Texas, and on Friday and Saturday at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, for the Texas Outlaw Nationals.

Sides Facing World of Outlaws Tripleheader if Weather Cooperates
Inside Line Promotions - BARTLETT, Tenn. (April 16, 2018) - Half of the 18 scheduled World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series races have been rained out this season, which is the second worst start to a season Jason Sides has witnessed.
"I forget what year it was, but rain cancelled all of the California swing," he said. "We drove out there and went to Phoenix and sat for two weeks. Fortunately my dad was with me and we stopped at some casinos and we hit for a bit so that paid for my two weeks of sitting out there."
The weather this weekend is shaping up nicely as the World of Outlaws has a tripleheader on tap. Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., will host a show on Friday before Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., showcases the Spring Classic on Saturday. Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind., wraps up the weekend with a race on Sunday.
"I'm hoping that we have some good runs," he said. "It's tough not racing because you can't get into a rhythm."
Sides placed sixth in April 2009 during his most recent World of Outlaws race at Riverside International Speedway, which is a short drive from where he lives.
"It'll give a lot of our family and friends an opportunity to watch us race," he said. "Being only 15 to 20 minutes from the track will allow the people who have been around us growing up and racing to come out."
Sides recorded a victory at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in 2012 and he posted a runner-up result there in 2015 to highlight the last few appearances. He also placed 10th at the bullring last year.
"It's a fun race track," he said. "Whether you're good or bad it's a fun track to get around."
Sides has scored a top-10 finish during three of his last six races at Tri-State Speedway, which had its originally scheduled date last weekend rained out.
"I'm glad they're making it up because we need to get these races in," he said. "Running at Tri-State Speedway is no different than most tracks. If you qualify decent and start up front you can be successful. "

Sides Eager for Midwest Races at Jacksonville and Tri-State This Weekend
Inside Line Promotions - QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. (April 11, 2018) - Jason Sides is back in the Midwest and he's hopeful Mother Nature will cooperate.
Sides is scheduled to compete this Friday at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill., and Saturday at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind., with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. However, seven of the 16 scheduled shows this season have been rained out for 'The Greatest Show on Dirt.'
"Hopefully we can have some good weather and can get some racing in," he said. "We've only got to race four times in the last six weeks."
Sides has been consistent at both tracks on this weekend's radar. He posted an eighth-place result at Jacksonville Speedway in 2014 during the series debut before placing 11th in 2016. Sides has earned a top-10 finish during three of the last six races at Tri-State Speedway.
"Just like at most tracks our night will be dictated by qualifying," he said. "If we qualify well we'll set ourselves up for success."
Sides wrapped up the World of Outlaws spring western swing last Saturday at Arizona Speedway during the Arizona Desert Shootout. He qualified 15th quickest and placed fifth in a heat race to lock into the 15 th starting position for the A Main.
"It wasn't bad, but the bottom of the track went away pretty quick," he said. "There was some meat down there early, especially off the front straightaway. Then it got really slick around the bottom. I passed a few cars. We had a couple of restarts and it was one of those nights when I was in the wrong spot on each restart. About the last six or eight laps it rubbered up through the middle to top and maybe I should have been up there earlier."
Sides recorded a 14th-place finish.

Sides Aiming for Top Five During Arizona Desert Shootout at Arizona Speedway
Inside Line Promotions - BARTLETT, Tenn. (April 2, 2018) - Jason Sides is refreshed following a week off to celebrate the holiday weekend with his family.
"We had a great time together," he said. "I enjoy spending time with my family whenever we get the chance."
Sides will return to action this Saturday at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz., during the Arizona Desert Shootout with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. It will mark his third visit to the track in the last three years.
"Last year when we were there it started out really good," he said. "There was a top and a bottom groove and later in the night the top was way around the top, but you could diamond off turns three and four. It made for a really good track."
Sides placed 11th at the oval during his debut in 2016 before he qualified third quickest, won a heat race, placed fifth in the dash and ended fifth in the A Main last year.
His goal for this weekend is to continue to progress at the bullring.
"A top five would be great," he said. "Getting qualified well is the biggest thing because that sets you up for the whole night."
Sides produced his best qualifying effort of the season during his most recent race, when he timed in third quickest.

Sides Motorsports Nets Two World of Outlaws Heat Race Wins in Bakersfield
Inside Line Promotions - BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (March 26, 2018) - Sides Motorsports picked up a pair of heat race victories last Saturday at Bakersfield Speedway during a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series show.
Both Jason Sides and Tim Kaeding had strong starts to the night as Kaeding timed in second quickest with Sides posting a season-best third-place effort in time trials. Sides and Kaeding followed that up by each winning a heat race to lock into the dash.
"Qualifying sets everything up and then to win a heat race and make the dash is the first goal of every night," Sides said. "This was the best night Tim and I had going during this West Coast swing."
Kaeding placed fourth in the dash while Sides ended eighth.
"Tim was starting toward the front in the A Main so we mostly left his car alone, but we tightened mine up," Sides said. "I think Tim had a top-five car, but someone drove through him and broke his left rear shock."
Kaeding spent most of the race battling between third and 10th place with wild restarts jumbling up the field. He closed the race with a 10th-place finish, which marked his third straight top 10.
Sides struggled with a tight race car and he faded to an 18th -place result.
"I want to thank Tim for driving for us the last few weeks," he said. "It was a lot of fun working with him and he did a great job of running well."
Sides will be off this weekend before resuming competition on April 7 at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz., during the Arizona Desert Shootout with the World of Outlaws.

Sides Motorsports Garners First Top Five of Season as Kaeding Places Fifth at Stockton
Inside Line Promotions - STOCKTON, Calif. (March 19, 2018) - Sides Motorsports captured its first top-five finish of the season last Saturday during the FVP Platinum Battery Western Spring Shootout at Stockton Dirt Track.
Tim Kaeding rallied from 13th to earn a fifth-place result on a rough track that had been hammered with rain, which forced Friday's World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series opener to be rained out.
"With all the rain they've had it was wet on Saturday," Jason Sides said. "We didn't qualify as well as I wanted to. Then Tim and I were in the same heat. He got going pretty good. Giovanni (Scelzi) and Paul (McMahan) were duking it out in front of me and I thought maybe I could get by them both. The track was a little narrow so there wasn't a whole lot of passing and we never had an opportunity."
Kaeding timed in 11th quickest and Sides was 13th quickest in their group before Kaeding placed fourth in a heat race and Sides seventh. That locked Kaeding into the 13th starting position for the A Main, while Sides was relegated to the Last Chance Showdown.
"I thought we had a good shot at transferring," Sides said. "It was one of those things where the track was slick coming off and on the start someone got sideways and came across. It slowed our momentum and I don't think we had a caution. We were getting to traffic and I felt like I could have raced for that final transfer position, but we ran out of laps."
Sides ended fifth in the consolation race to miss a transfer by only one position.
Meanwhile, Kaeding was on a mission in the main event. He hustled into the top five by maneuvering around the holes on the tricky track.
"He was good on the bottom," Sides said. "He could run in there and get underneath guys. There was a big hole in turn one where you had to go above it or below it. Some guys would go in high and get to the middle of the corner and get really tight. He worked by them that way. He actually made some passes around the top of guys in turns one and two on restarts, too."
Both Sides and Kaeding will be in action for Sides Motorsports this Friday at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif., for the Ocean Outlaw Showdown and Saturday at Bakersfield Speedway in Bakersfield, Calif., with the World of Outlaws.

Sides Motorsports Garners Top 10 in Tulare With Tim Kaeding Behind the Wheel
Inside Line Promotions - TULARE, Calif. (March 12, 2018) - Jason Sides enjoyed a different perspective last Friday during a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event.
Sides focused on his role as car owner after his own qualifying result was near the back of the pack during the opening night of a doubleheader at Thunderbowl Raceway, where veteran Tim Kaeding also piloted a Sides Motorsports entry.
"I wanted to qualify better, but it didn't go as well as we hoped in the backup car," Sides said. "Our stuff wasn't running as well as it should and we decided it was going to be too risky to try to come from the back in a heat race and the Last Chance Showdown to make the A Main so we parked it for the remainder of the night."
Kaeding timed in eighth quickest in his group and he finished where he started - fourth - in a heat race to lock into the 16th starting position for the 35-lap A Main.
"We made changes all night freeing it up and getting him comfortable in it," Sides said. "Late in the race he was a lot better. I think it was a pretty good run."
Kaeding maneuvered to an eighth-place finish, which earned him the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.
Saturday's race rained out.
Both Sides and Kaeding will compete for Sides Motorsports this Friday and Saturday at Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif., during the FVP Platinum Battery Western Spring Shootout with the World of Outlaws.
"I like racing there," Sides said. "Last year we started off real well and led the first lap of the race. We had a power steering line rub a bolt and cut it so hopefully we're just as fast with a little more luck this year."

Sides Welcomes Tim Kaeding to Sides Motorsports Entry This Weekend in Tulare
Inside Line Promotions - LAS VEGAS (March 5, 2018) - Jason Sides is putting one of the Kings of the Thunderbowl into a Sides Motorsports entry this weekend.
Tim Kaeding will pilot a No. 7s sprint car on Friday and Saturday at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., during a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series doubleheader. Kaeding has four career Outlaws wins at the bullring.
"I'm excited about it," Sides said. "I want to see him run well, especially for our sponsors out there. Tim is one of the top drivers at any race in Tulare so this should be a fun weekend."
Sides competed last Wednesday and Thursday at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas. Qualifying put him behind the figurative eight ball on both nights of the FVP Outlaw Showdown.
"The first night it was a bit rough and I thought we got through there good and we ended at the back," he said. "On the second night the top got so far around there I slowed down to the hit the bottom. I thought I hit it good, but I was still several tenths off."
Sides qualified 17th and 19th, respectively, and he placed ninth in a heat race both nights. He won the C Main before placing 10th in the Last Chance Showdown on Wednesday. Sides scratched from feature competition on Thursday.
The SoCal Showdown last Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, Calif., rained out. It was the third World of Outlaws event in the first eight scheduled races to be cancelled because of inclement weather.

Sides Invading Las Vegas and Perris This Week With World of Outlaws
Inside Line Promotions - BARTLETT, Tenn. (Feb. 26, 2018) - Jason Sides is heading to one of his most successful tracks this week with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
Sides will compete on Wednesday and Thursday at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas in Las Vegas for the FVP Outlaw Showdown before the weekend concludes on Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, Calif., for the SoCal Showdown.
"We've been strong in Las Vegas quite a few times," he said. "It's a big track where momentum is important. We've been close to winning there and have picked up some podium finishes so hopefully we can get back to that level of success this week."
Sides has recorded seven top-five finishes and nine top 10s in 15 races at the half-mile oval since 2009, including three straight runner-up results in 2012 and 2013. He also secured at least one top-10 finish at the track each season for eight straight years before a weekend of bad luck stopped the streak last season.
Sides will venture to Perris Auto Speedway on Saturday for the first of four straight weeks in California. He has improved his result at the track each of the last five years, including netting a top-10 finish the last three seasons.
"Perris is a big track with tight corners," he said. "Momentum can be critical there as well. The biggest thing is to get qualified well and stay up front all night. That's important every night, but at some tracks like Perris it's key for having a great result."
Last weekend's World of Outlaws races in Texas were rained out.

Sides Aiming for Smooth Weekend in Texas With World of Outlaws
Inside Line Promotions - GIBSONTON, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2018) - Jason Sides is seeking a smooth weekend as he returns to World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series competition this Friday and Saturday in Texas.
Sides will compete on Friday at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige and on Saturday at LoneStar Speedway in Kilgore for the East Texas LoneStar Shootout.
"Our debut at Cotton Bowl Speedway in 2016 was follow the leader without much passing and when we ran at LoneStar Speedway last year we were caught up in a crash," he said. "Hopefully we can have a couple of good nights this weekend and get back on the right track."
Sides was hampered by mechanical issues last weekend during the Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s at East Bay Raceway Park.
The tripleheader began on Thursday when Sides placed fifth in a heat race before he won a B Main to transfer into the 17th starting position for the 25-lap A Main.
"We were really good early in the feature," he said. "We picked up a few spots in the first couple of laps and were battling for a top 10 most of the race."
Unfortunately, a mechanical problem sent the team pitside with only four laps remaining while running 10th. Sides was credited with a 23 rd-place result.
The team changed engines prior to Friday's show to a 23-year-old engine Sides has relied on sparingly. Sides placed sixth in a heat race, second in a B main and 17th in the main event.
The weekend wrapped up on Saturday with Sides finishing fifth in a heat race to miss locking into the A Main by only one position. However, late in the race the engine developed a problem that was unable to be fixed and Sides was forced to scratch from the remainder of the event.
"We certainly didn't get the results out of the weekend like we wanted, but it's always a great weekend to spend down there with Kimball Wetherington and some of the people from Wetherington Tractor Service, Inc., as well as all of our fans and friends in that part of the country," he said. "Now we'll shift gears back to World of Outlaws competition in Texas before we head to the West Coast for a few weeks."

Sides Venturing to East Bay for Laid Back Event Supporting Long-Time Sponsor
Inside Line Promotions - BARBERVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 12, 2018) - Jason Sides is looking forward to a relaxing weekend at the Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s, which is hosted by East Bay Raceway Park this Thursday through Saturday.
"One of our biggest sponsors, Kimball Wetherington of Wetherington Tractor Service, Inc., is based down there and supports the track and event so we always look forward to spending time with him," he said. "It's a laid back weekend where we go to have fun. Of course we want to win, too."
Sides, who was the event champion in 2002, won a preliminary night at the bullring near Tampa, Fla., in 2015 and 2016. He placed fourth and 18 th in preliminary competition last year before ending eight during the finale.
The event will be one of the rare 360ci winged sprint car races of the season for Sides, whose 2018 campaign with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series began last weekend at Volusia Speedway Park during the DIRTcar Nationals.
Sides entered the week with at least one top-10 finish during the event for the last 11 years.
"We didn't qualify well and that put us behind to start each night," he said. "We raced our way into the show each night, but didn't put ourselves in a good enough position to capture a top 10. The track was heavy and fast the first two nights so it was tough to move forward."
Sides qualified 20th quickest and placed sixth in a heat race on Friday during the World of Outlaws season opener. That missed a lock-in position by only one spot and relegated Sides to the Last Chance Showdown. He placed third in the race to transfer into the 23rd starting position for the A Main.
"When you qualify back there you have to make up a lot of ground in the heat race," he said. "Otherwise you're buried in the Last Chance Showdown and then the main event if you make it in. We did what we could on a heavy, fast track."
Sides advanced a handful of positions to place 18th.
Similar circumstances played out on Saturday as Sides timed in 30 th quickest in qualifying, advanced from eighth to sixth in a heat race to again narrowly miss a lock-in position to the A Main. He charged from 10th to third place in the Last Chance Showdown and maneuvered from 23rd to 20th in the main event.
The weekend wrapped up on Sunday with Sides qualifying 11th quickest. A sixth-place heat race finish locked him into the A Main since there were only three heats.
"All three nights was the same thing," he said. "When you're starting at the back like that it doesn't give you many options because you're constantly surrounded by a lot of cars. Dirty air makes it tough to maneuver and just when you get rolling someone can chop you on the bottom lane or slide up in front of you on the top. Once you lose a little momentum it really slows you for a couple of laps."

Sides Seeking to Extend Top-10 Streak at DIRTcar Nationals to 12 Straight Years

Inside Line Promotions - BARTLETT, Tenn. (Feb. 5, 2018) - Jason Sides will once again start his season in sunny Florida.
Sides is slated to compete this Wednesday through Sunday at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville for the DIRTcar Nationals. The first two nights are sanctioned by the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions and the final three nights open the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series season.
"You're always itching to go racing by this time of the year," he said. "We'll use Wednesday night as a test session and depending on that night we'll see if we race Thursday. The ultimate focus is to be prepared for the World of Outlaws opener on Friday."
Sides has earned a lot of success at the half-mile oval, where he has produced at least one top-10 finish each year during the DIRTcar Nationals since 2007.
"Volusia is a big, fast track where momentum is important," he said. "If you can set yourself up to start on the front row of a heat race, dash and/or the A Main you're in the best position because of clean air."
Sides qualified third quickest, fourth quickest and 12th quickest during the three World of Outlaws races at Volusia Speedway Park last season. He won his heat race during two of the three nights. Unfortunately, a broken nose wing on the opening night and a violent crash during the finale hampered his results.
"We set ourselves up well last year, but luck wasn't on our side," he said. "We had a top-five car both of those nights when circumstances happened that changed our fate. But we know how to get around that track and if we have that same level of speed this year I'm excited to see how well we can do."
Sides was victorious at the track in 2011.
