Kaeding, Shaffer and Sides Lead Sides Motorsports Through Another Year on the Road
Inside Line Promotions - BARTLETT, Tenn. (Nov. 19, 2019) - A top-five outing during the famed Knoxville Nationals highlighted the season for Sides Motorsports.
Tim Kaeding spent a little more than two dozen races behind the wheel for the team, earning seven top fives during World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series competition. The best moment came in August when Kaeding guided the team to a career-best fourth-place finish during the sport's biggest event.
"TK is an underrated driver that needs a full-time ride," team owner Jason Sides said. "Any time he'd get in our car he was capable of winning. Every time he hit the track it seemed like it was potential for a top five.
"At the Capitani Classic the weekend before the Knoxville Nationals he had to run the B Main and came out of that (from 12th to win) and then he started 20th and ran sixth in the feature. With the same caliber of cars as the Nationals it's pretty good to get through the field like that. Then in the Nationals to start 10th and finish fourth was great. I think there was maybe a top three at one point."
Veteran Tim Shaffer also competed in nearly a half dozen races with the team.
"Shaffer jumped in it and had a really good run at Lernerville," Sides said. "Williams Grove is all about the luck of the draw. To make the show one night and have a good night going was a decent showing given how challenging it is there."
Sides ran the entire World of Outlaws schedule, finishing 13th in the championship standings highlighted by five top 10s.
"We weren't on our game this year at all," he said. "Sometimes you get over it for a year. Now I'm motivated to do it again. I'm rejuvenated and looking forward to next year.
"I want to thank everyone for their support of our team. Also, we wish Kimball Wetherington well in his recuperation. We have some great people who are a part of this team and we're looking forward to a better season next year."

Shaffer Earns Hard Charger Award for Sides Motorsports During World Finals
Inside Line Promotions - CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 12, 2019) - Tim Shaffer highlighted the Can-Am World Finals for Sides Motorsports by earning the Hard Charger Award on Friday at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.
Shaffer's hustle from 24th to 14th marked the most cars passed during the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series main event. It was also the best result of the weekend for Shaffer and team owner Jason Sides.
"I felt like we could have been a little better and he could have got a top 10, which would have been good starting 24th," Sides said. "The track was spotty with rubber, but got cleaned off enough it didn't lay it down. It ground the tires off and you could move around the track. It was down to the cords of the left rear and right rear at the end."
Both Sides and Shaffer qualified in the top 15 in their group for both shows. However, with more than 50 cars competing and a six-heat race format, neither driver finished in the top three of a heat race to lock into the main event.
"We could have been better in qualifying with more gear the way the track was," Sides said. "When you have that caliber of cars you have to be on the front row of a heat race. It's hard to pass. Also, on Friday and Saturday you go into the heat races without hot lapping or anything so that makes it tough."
Shaffer powered from 11th to sixth in the Last Chance Showdown on Friday to garner the final transfer position into the A Main. He continued to move forward by gaining 10 more positions in the feature to place 14th.
Shaffer used a provisional to start 27th in Saturday's main event. He picked up a handful of spots to finish 23rd.
"We went a little further with the setup on Saturday from how we had it Friday," Sides said. "We were the feature before the late models so the track wasn't as cleaned off as the night before. They moved the tires in and that threw a lot of mud on the race track. We just missed it a bit with how the car was set up."

Shaffer Added to Sides Motorsports Roster for Can-Am World Finals
Inside Line Promotions - BARTLETT, Tenn. (Nov. 4, 2019) - Sides Motorsports will feature the duo of team owner Jason Sides and fellow veteran racer Tim Shaffer this week as the season concludes at the Can-Am World Finals.
Both drivers will invade The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., Thursday through Saturday for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series spectacle.
"Every year by this time you're glad for it to be over, but in a couple weeks you're chomping at the bit to go racing again," Sides quipped. "This has been a different year because we have a week off before Charlotte. It's been good to be home for a week to get everything ready to go."
Sides charged from 15th to eighth at the oval earlier this season during his most recent visit. His career-best outing is a runner-up result, occurring in 2013 and in 2009. He has five top fives and 16 top 10s at the track since 2007.
Shaffer produced a pair of top fives during last year's edition of the Can-Am World Finals.
"It's gotten a lot easier," Sides said of running two cars. "When it first started it was a little tough. Now we have it down to where we know what we need to do. Gravy has been doing great getting everything ready for both cars.
"The key is being prepared when you get there. Qualifying for two days on Thursday is tough. You really have to get qualified good. You have to have all your ducks in a row from the start."

Sides Battles Bad Luck Throughout Nittany Showdown at Port Royal Speedway
Inside Line Promotions - PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Oct. 30, 2019) - Misfortune struck last Friday at Port Royal Speedway for Jason Sides, who was nearly involved in a crash during heat race action before being caught up in a wreck during the Last Chance Showdown.
Sides opened the Nittany Showdown by qualifying 10th quickest in his World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series group.
"I felt good about it," he said. "It was heavy and the track was only halfway up. The track wasn't very wide, but was fast for everybody. I felt like we could be in there and make the show."
Sides started fourth in a heat race and was battling for one of the three lock-in positions into the A Main at the start of the heat when a driver nearly spun out directly in front of Sides, who was forced to take evasive action to avoid an incident. That cost Sides several positions on the fast track and an eighth-place result relegated him to the Last Chance Showdown.
The consolation race didn't fare any better for Sides, who was involved in a multiple-car crash on the opening lap. It ended his night early.
"I saw tire smoke when someone got into the wall and I lifted a little to try to turn down," he said. "About that time I'm sure they were bottling up behind us. They started running over the back of me. The last thing I saw was Freddie Rahmer got over a tire and went flying.
"It bent our frame, tore the front axle up, killed the tail tank. It didn't touch either wing, but got everything else."
Saturday's event finale rained out after qualifying.
Sides will be off this weekend before wrapping up the season Nov. 7-9 at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., during the Can-Am World Finals with the World of Outlaws.

Sides Hustles to New Track Record and Best Result of Season During Jason Johnson Classic
Inside Line Promotions - ELDON, Mo. (Oct. 22, 2019) - Jason Sides produced his best outing of the season on Saturday during the inaugural Jason Johnson Classic presented by FK Rod Ends.
Sides kicked off the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event at Lake Ozark Speedway by setting quick time during qualifying. He did so in impressive fashion by establishing a new track record as well.
"When we hot lapped the car felt so good," he said. "It was easy to drive and rolled right around there."
Sides then won both a heat race and the dash - his first of the season - from the pole position to garner the pole for the 41-lap main event.
"Everything was falling in place and going our way," he said.
Sides led the first seven laps - his first laps led this season - before entering traffic. He lost two positions in one turn when he got trapped behind a slower car. Sides maintained third for awhile before dropping two more positions on a restart. He ended with a sixth-place result, which marked his best finish of the year and fifth top 10 during World of Outlaws action.
"It was pretty good all night until the feature," he said. "I believe that is due to not running up front. You forget how fast you come up on lapped traffic. I wasn't really sure how close (David) Gravel and Sheldon (Haudenschild) were to me, but when I got to lapped cars they went right underneath me. I must have slowed up too much for a lapped car. Just not being in that position lately got me.
"It would have been nice to have a top five, which would be like a win for us. Sixth is still a good run."
The strong outing came on the heels of a 16th-place run the previous night at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown.
"I started pretty decent and we got going," he said. "I felt pretty good and got a couple of spots on the bottom. That went away. It was so far around the top and the cushion was 10 or 12 inches from the wall. That's not my style. I'd tip toe to it and I think I got the tires hot. I wasn't very good throughout the second half of that feature and got to spinning the tires and we lost spots."
Sides heads to Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., this Friday and Saturday for the Nittany Showdown with the World of Outlaws.
"Last year we started 10th and went into the first corner and I was too tight on the right front," he said. "We fell to 24th and got back to 10th. If we could get a pair of top 10s I think we'd be happy with the weekend."

Shaffer Guides Sides Motorsports to 17th-Place Outing at National Open
Inside Line Promotions - MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (Oct. 8, 2019) - Tim Shaffer posted a 17th-place result during the final night of the Champion Racing Oil National Open to highlight the weekend for Sides Motorsports.
Shaffer qualified seventh quickest in his group to kick off the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series action on Friday. However, a DNF in a heat race relegated him to the Last Chance Showdown at Williams Grove Speedway. Shaffer won that race to transfer into the main event, which was short-lived as he pulled off early with a DNF.
"We had a hiccup in the heat race so he had to run the B Main," team owner Jason Sides said. "He got going in the feature and then got hung out on a restart. He wasn't making up ground and decided to pull in to save it for the next night."
Saturday was more consistent for Shaffer as he timed in 12th quickest in his group before he placed fourth in both a heat race and the Last Chance Showdown. That earned a transfer into the A Main. Shaffer rallied from 22nd to the 17th-place finish.
"He got himself in there and got a few cars, but some of the restarts didn't go his way when one line would go better," Sides said. "He made a few spots, but he said after the race he was just kind of there."
Sides was just a tick off in qualifying both nights, timing in 11 th quickest in his group on Friday and 16th on Saturday. That put him behind the eight ball in a heat race and his night ended in the Last Chance Showdown both nights.
"I got a really good run in turns one and two to start my heat race on Friday, but a guy got out in the middle and turned right," he said. "It was either crash or lift. That was my shot from going fourth to second and making the dash to not making the feature. That was kinda how the weekend went overall."
Sides returns to World of Outlaws competition this Saturday at Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute, Ind., during the Wabash Clash and Sunday at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind.
"It's only a one-car operation this week," he said. "I know we can run decent in Haubstadt. Terre Haute is more about qualifying because the track is so big. Hopefully we'll put it in the show and move forward each night."

Shaffer Joining Sides Motorsports for Williams Grove National Open
Inside Line Promotions - SARVER, Pa. (Oct. 1, 2019) - Tim Shaffer will join Sides Motorsports this weekend during one of winged sprint car racing's marquee events.
Shaffer and team owner Jason Sides will be the drivers for the team during the Champion Racing Oil National Open on Friday and Saturday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa. Shaffer was victorious at the half-mile oval in July during the most recent World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series two-day event at the track.
"The last time Shaffer was there he won the Friday night race and Saturday he was running good when the motor broke," Sides said. "If we can get both our cars in the main event this Saturday it'd be a good weekend."
Shaffer made his debut with Sides Motorsports last Saturday at Lernerville Speedway, which hosted the Commonwealth Clash. He qualified 12th quickest, advanced from third to second in a heat race and from eighth to seventh in the dash before closing the night with a ninth-place result in the A Main.
"He lives close to there so we went ahead and did it," Sides said. "I knew he was out of a ride and we were going there so it just worked out. For the first night in the car it was pretty good. He was in the dash and ran seventh most of the race until the last restart."
Sides also enjoyed a good outing, overcoming a sub-par qualifying time by winning the Last Chance Showdown and rallying from 21st to 13 th in the main event. The eight positions gained was tied for the most.
"The track seemed like it finally got widened out," he said. "We didn't qualify real well and that put us back of a heat. We won the B Main and started back in the feature. We kept our head in the game and kept going at it around the bottom. It was a lot better late in the race."
Sides also raced with the World of Outlaws last Wednesday at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill., where he missed transferring into the main event by only one position in both a heat race and the Last Chance Showdown.
"The preferred line was on the hill by the fence and that wasn't me," he said. "I missed it one spot in the heat and the B Main. It didn't feel very good up there. I went back to where I was running and just didn't make it. Some days it will be like that."

Sides Motorsports Highlights Week With Top-Five Run at Placerville Speedway
Inside Line Promotions - CALISTOGA, Calif. (Sept. 16, 2019) - Sides Motorsports highlighted its final week of the season on the West Coast with a top-five finish last Wednesday during the 49er Gold Rush Classic presented by Riebes NAPA Auto Parts.
Tim Kaeding piloted a team car to the quickest time in qualifying before he won a heat race. Unfortunately, he pulled the highest number - six - during the dash redraw and he finished in that position. Kaeding made up ground in the A Main, battling for a spot on the podium before ending fourth.
It marked the team's seventh top five of the season and it was the best result of the three-race week with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series for the two-car team.
Kaeding placed 16th on Friday at Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif., during the NOS Energy Drink Showdown at Stockton and he ended 13th on Saturday at Calistoga Speedway during the Wine Country Outlaw Showdown. Those were his final two scheduled starts of the year with the team.
"I think it worked out great this year," team owner Jason Sides said. "He had some really good runs. We've got good equipment and the motors run really good. I feel like if he was here longer we'd wrack up some wins."
Sides improved his feature finish during all three nights, placing 23 rd at Placerville Speedway, 21st at Stockton Dirt Track and 17th at Calistoga Speedway. While Calistoga Speedway featured the best result, Sides had his top night going on Friday at Stockton Dirt Track.
He qualified sixth quickest before winning a heat race. A fifth-place finish in the dash lined him up on the inside of the third row for the A Main. Unfortunately, Sides got the front end knocked out of his race car early in the feature and the time expired in the work area before he could return to the track.
"On one of the restarts I was on the outside," he said. "I tried running the top and it didn't work for me. I got to bouncing real bad and then got ran over. It took the front end out and jabbed it in the mud. It took longer to get the mud out than change the front end so we didn't get to restart. Tim had a similar problem as a rut threw him off the track. I felt like both cars were going to be in the top five and it got shot to hell."
Next up is a trip to Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, Kan., for the Outlaw Boot Hill Showdown this Friday and Saturday. Sides won World of Outlaws races at the track in 2011 and 2015.
"It's a beautiful facility with a great promoter," he said. "I love the race track. It's a fun track and the whole facility is nice. It's always great to go there."

Sides Motorsports Taking Two Cars to Placerville, Stockton and Calistoga This Week
Inside Line Promotions - CHICO, Calif. (Sept. 10, 2019) - Sides Motorsports is seeking its first World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series triumph since April 2016.
There have been several close calls since then and last Friday was another great opportunity as Tim Kaeding led the first 16 laps of the 30-lap main event during the opening night of the Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway.
Kaeding qualified third quickest before he won both a heat race and the dash to garner the pole position for the main event. He paced the field for the first half of the race before a minor miscue allowed eventual winner Brad Sweet by on Lap 17.
"There were a lot of big ruts," said team owner Jason Sides, who noted his performance during the weekend was more focused on not tearing up his equipment. "TK had a good lead and hit one rut coming off turn two. That got him off the back straightaway and that's when Brad got by. For the most part it was a great race. I'm an optimistic. We want to win when you're that close, but a top five, a top three is great, especially when you're racing with all those guys."
Kaeding finished in the runner-up position, which was the team's best outing of the season.
Kaeding produced another good showing on Saturday, timing in 12 th quickest in qualifying and placing third in a heat race to line up ninth for the main event.
"At one point he got up to third or fourth in the feature," Sides said. "There at the end he got shuffled back a little bit with some of the corn row ruts. The inside wasn't as good at the beginning of the race, but toward the end of the race it was better. Sometimes it was just being in the wrong place at the wrong time."
Kaeding hustled to a sixth-place outing, which marked the team's 16 th top 10 of the season.
Sides scored his best result of last week on Wednesday at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Ore., where he capped the night with a 14th -place finish.
This week marks the final three scheduled races of the season with Kaeding in a Sides Motorsports entry. Both Kaeding and Sides will race on Wednesday at Placerville Speedway in Placerville, Calif., during the 49er Gold Rush Classic presented by Riebes NAPA Auto Parts; on Friday at Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif., during the NOS Energy Drink Showdown at Stockton; and on Saturday at Calistoga Speedway in Calistoga, Calif., during the Wine Country Outlaw Showdown.
"I think he'll have a good shot at winning it at Placerville," Sides said. "He won at Stockton a couple of weeks ago and I look forward to going to Calistoga because I've been better on bigger tracks. I hope to have a good run there."

Tim Kaeding Produces Top Five at Skagit for Sides Motorsports
Inside Line Promotions - ELMA, Wash. (Sept. 3, 2019) - A top-five finish on Saturday during the World of Outlaws at Skagit Presented by Scottie's Plumbing highlighted the weekend in Washington for Sides Motorsports.
Tim Kaeding qualified second quickest and placed second in a heat race before winning the dash to garner the pole position for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series A Main. Kaeding battled inside the top three throughout most of the main event before he lost a couple of positions following a late-race restart.
The fifth-place outing marked the team's fifth top five of the season.
"TK had a good weekend and was in contention for a top 10 all three nights in Washington," team owner Jason Sides said. "My weekend wasn't as good. We didn't get off to great starts in qualifying and it's tough to overcome that, especially with the way the tracks were."
Kaeding also produced a seventh-place outing at Skagit Speedway on Friday and he battled for a top 10 nearly the entire feature on Monday at Grays Harbor Raceway before settling for a 12th-place finish.
"A front post broke on the nose wing and when it pushed back the car got too tight," Sides said. "He wasn't able to hold the bottom so that's how those guys got by TK at the end.
"He's been running good and I think it showed. I look for some good results throughout California the next couple of weeks."
Sides returns to action on Wednesday at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Ore., before both he and Kaeding will compete on Friday and Saturday at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif., during the Gold Cup Race of Champions with the World of Outlaws.

Tim Kaeding Joining Sides Motorsports for World of Outlaws Races in Washington
Inside Line Promotions - BILLINGS, Mont. (Aug. 27, 2019) - Tim Kaeding is back in a Sides Motorsports entry this weekend during a trio of World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series races in Washington.
Kaeding will join team owner Jason Sides on Friday and Saturday at Skagit Speedway in Alger during the World of Outlaws at Skagit Presented by Scottie's Plumbing and on Monday at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma.
"It's always fun coming out to the Northwest," Sides said. "Skagit is fun and so is racing in Elma. It's always a good time. The weather is great and the people are great fans. It seems more laid back and they enjoy the racing."
Sides narrowly missed a pair of top 10s last weekend during World of Outlaws shows in South Dakota and Montana.
The action began on Friday at Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, S.D., where Sides placed ninth during the NOS Energy Drink Rushmore Outlaw Showdown
"We were just there, but we weren't real good or real comfortable," he said. "The racing lane was up near the fence and it was wide open around the top. At the very beginning we all went down to the corner. I checked up a little to hopefully not crash and a couple went by. Then we moved up to the top and that was about it."
The weekend concluded on Saturday at Big Sky Speedway for The Brawl at Big Sky Speedway. Sides ended the night 11th, but less than a car length from a top-10 result.
"We qualified better than we raced," he said noting his fifth-place qualifying effort. "I lost second in the heat and got over the edge and lost another spot trying to make that up. Those two spots made us start 11 th in the feature. We finished where we started and if we were able to start closer up front I think we would have had a top five or top 10."

Sides Motorsports Battles Tricky Track During World of Outlaws Race at River Cities
Inside Line Promotions - GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Aug. 19, 2019) - Sides Motorsports had a strong start to the night last Friday at River Cities Speedway, which hosted the Second Leg of the Northern Tour.
Teammates Jason Sides and Tim Kaeding both qualified in the top six, landing front row starting spots for their World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series heat races. Starting on the outside lane wasn't as favorable and both Sides and Kaeding lost a position to finish third, which cost them a spot in the dash. Kaeding lined up eighth and Sides ninth for the main event.
"The track started out not very wet and they tilled the bottom and the top and left a little curb around the top to make it raceable," Sides said. "After the late models race it developed a rut. The longer the night went the wetter the track went. It got so sticky. We had that red on the first lap. TK put some more gear in it and we changed some stuff around. We went 10 or 12 laps before we had that second long red. I changed my stuff back because it wasn't any better. The track was choppy, wet, but dry. It was a weird night."
Kaeding finished 11th and Sides was credited with a 16 th-place outing.
Saturday's event at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D., rained out.
Next up for the team is a World of Outlaws show on Friday at Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, S.D., during the NOS Energy Drink Rushmore Outlaw Showdown before a race on Saturday at Big Sky Speedway in Billings, Mont., during The Brawl at Big Sky Speedway.
"I'd like to have a couple of good runs," Sides said. "NOS is putting in some extra money for Rapid City so that always helps."
Kaeding is scheduled to return to Sides Motorsports the following weekend.

Sides Motorsports Enjoys Career-Best Finish at Knoxville Nationals
Inside Line Promotions - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 12, 2019) - Sides Motorsports recorded its best Knoxville Nationals finish ever last Saturday when Tim Kaeding scored a fourth-place result at the 59th annual NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey's General Stores.
"Everybody is happy," team owner Jason Sides said. "It makes things a lot easier when you have a good run like that. The confidence is up and we can build off of that."
Kaeding topped his charge to a fifth-place outing last year with another stellar effort that began at Knoxville Raceway last Wednesday. He qualified third quickest out of more than 50 drivers before rallying from eighth to fifth place in a heat race. That missed locking into the A Main, but a win in the B Main transferred Kaeding into the rear of the main event. He capped the night by charging from 21st to 10th.
"To make it through there was everything," Sides said. "By moving forward and getting those points it put him second overall. I would say that's 99 percent of everyone's goal is to get locked in (for Saturday). That makes it a lot easier and you can focus on the racing rather than have to run a 22-lap B Main before you run the feature. Anything can happen when you're in the B Main."
Once preliminary points were calculated Kaeding ranked seventh out of more than 100 racers. He lined up on the inside of the fourth row for Saturday's 50-lap main event.
Kaeding charged into the top five early and he battled into third place by the midpoint of the race.
"We broke a throttle spring so it made it hard to hold the bottom," Sides said. "The throttle was so soft and everything was so hot it doesn't come back as much. From that point on he had to run the top. Logan (Schuchart) and (Daryn) Pittman got into traffic and he ran them down at the end so that shows how good he and the car were despite the throttle problem."
Kaeding's fourth-place run also marked the team's fourth top five of the season.
Sides didn't fare as well during the event. He qualified 36th quickest, won a heat race and rallied from 18th to 12 th in the A Main on Thursday during his preliminary night.
"Qualifying wasn't any good," he said. "It wasn't what we wanted. We made the show and it was pretty good. We made the car better every time we hit the track. You always want to keep improving everything and moving forward. We kept trying the whole time."
He then qualified 22nd quickest in his group and maneuvered from eighth to fifth in a heat race before being caught up in a pair of crashes during the B Main on Friday. That started him deep in the show on Saturday.
Sides won the E Main before finishing his Knoxville Nationals with a 15 th-place result in the D Main.
"It was a fun week," he said. "Everybody is good to everybody. It's about having fun and there were lots of extracurricular activities everywhere. I want to give a special thanks to Paul Sides and Justin Sides for cooking every night for the hundreds of people who came by Sides Bar and Grill."
Both Sides and Kaeding will compete this Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., during the Second Leg of the Northern Tour and Saturday at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D., during the Duel in the Dakotas with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.

Sides Motorsports Heading Into Knoxville Nationals With Momentum
Inside Line Promotions - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 6, 2019) - Sides Motorsports is entering the 59th annual NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey's General Stores with momentum.
Tim Kaeding produced a great night on Sunday during the 8th annual Bell Helmets Capitani Classic presented by Great Southern Bank, charging to a top-10 result from deep in the field at Knoxville Raceway. It was the final tune-up prior to the Nationals, which runs this Wednesday through Saturday.
"He made the best of it," team owner Jason Sides said. "We know he knows how to get around there and he got better as the night went on."
Kaeding qualified 21st quickest in his group. He then rallied from seventh to fourth place in a heat race, which was one position shy of making the A Main. That relegated him to the 12th starting spot in a B Main.
"We didn't have a real good qualifying run and we missed it by one in the heat," Sides said. "He got more laps. The heat is only eight laps where the B Main was 12. With the couple of extra laps he got by those cars and continued to move forward each time he was on the track."
Kaeding rallied to win the consolation race and earn a transfer into the back of the main event. He then powered from 20th to a sixth-place finish, which marked the team's 10th top 10 of the season.
Both Kaeding and Sides will compete at Knoxville Raceway this week during the Knoxville Nationals.
Sides raced with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series last Friday and Saturday at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., during the Ironman 55. Both nights played out the same and ended with a rally from 20th to 15th in the main event.
"Qualifying is everything right now," Sides said. "If you qualify in the back you'll start in the back of everything. We need to qualify a little better."

Sides Excited for Ironman 55 Before Team Heads to Knoxville for Capitani Classic
Inside Line Promotions - MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (July 29, 2019) - Jason Sides is looking forward to August getting off to a hot start this weekend.
Sides will compete on Friday and Saturday at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., during the Ironman 55 with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.
"I'm really excited about getting to Pevely," he said. "I enjoy that track. Whether you're in the front or the back it's a blast because the race track is fun."
The team will then hustle to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Sunday as Tim Kaeding is set to compete during the 8th annual Bell Helmets Capitani Classic presented by Great Southern Bank.
"He hasn't got to run there this year so we'll go back and try to make a few spots better than last year," Sides said. "We have something good to start with."
Kaeding placed fourth during his Knoxville Nationals preliminary night and fifth during the finale last year.
Sides is coming off a three-race week in Pennsylvania, beginning last Tuesday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver for the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup.
"The track started off slick and got slicker and slicker," he said. "We never got tight enough for the track. There was not much of anything. There were wet spots that you'd hit and you'd get a little grip and go back to slick."
Sides was credited with a 23rd-place result.
He then ventured to Williams Grove Speedway for the Champion Racing Oil Summer Nationals. Unfortunately, his night ended with a fifth-place finish in the Last Chance Showdown on both Friday and Saturday.
"We were one away every time," he said. "We didn't make any gains in the heat and in the B Main we were one spot away from transferring both times. It came down to not qualifying well enough to start each night."

Sides Heading to Pennsylvania for Silver Cup and Summer Nationals

Inside Line Promotions - ROSSBURG, Ohio (July 23, 2019) - Jason Sides is bound for Pennsylvania for a trio of World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series this week.

The action begins Tuesday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver for the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup before races on Friday and Saturday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg for the Champion Racing Oil Summer Nationals.

"We stopped by Kistler's and swapped a worn motor so hopefully we have some good luck the next few races with a fresh motor," he said. "The biggest thing is when you get in there the luck of the draw can determine where you're going to run. I'm not sure what the best scenario is, but I know you need to be out early for qualifying."

Sides and teammate Tim Kaeding tackled four races at Eldora Speedway last week.

"We didn't fare well," Sides said. "You toss it out and move on to the next one. You can't dwell on the last race."

Sides got behind in qualifying each night before missing the heat race inversion by only one spot during Saturday's Kings Royal. He would have garnered the pole position for a heat race if he was one spot quicker in qualifying. Instead he started seventh in a heat race and was unable to make it to third to lock into the main event.

"That was everything," he said. "We had one more car to go and were 36 th. That last car bumped us. We weren't that good. When it started backing up we thought we might hit it right, but it didn't happen either."

Kaeding had a better week in time trials, qualifying in the top six in his group on Wednesday and Thursday before timing in 12thoverall on Saturday.

"It's a catch 22," Sides said. "When it's like that it's tough, but any time you go there with a six heat format it makes it really tough."

Kaeding capped the main events on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday by finishing 20th. He won the C Main and charged from 19 thto 10th in the Last Chance Showdown on Saturday.

Tim Kaeding Guides Sides Motorsports to Top Five at Wilmot
Inside Line Promotions - WILMOT, Wis. (July 15, 2019) - Tim Kaeding led Sides Motorsports to a top-five finish last Saturday at Wilmot Raceway during the Badger 40.
It was the best result during a World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader for the team, which featured two cars both nights. The action began on Friday at Hartford Speedway in Hartford, Mich., during the Battle of Michigan.
Kaeding set quick time during qualifying, placed second in a heat race, ended fourth in the dash and came home 12th in the main event after spending most of the race in the top five.
Jason Sides timed in third quickest during qualifying. He also finished second in a heat race before scoring a fifth-place outing in the dash. Sides capped the night with a 14th-place result in the feature.
"It started out great going quick time and third quick," Sides said. "We both made the dash through our heat races and we swapped positions in the dash. He was pretty good and was hanging in there in the top five. On one of the restarts I got bombarded. It was like a hornets nest going into turn one. I got shuffled from seventh or eighth to 12th or 13 th. Late in the race TK was running in the top 10 and blew a tire out so that one went by the wayside at Hartford.
"TK used a borrowed motor from Dave Lunstra. Dave was pretty happy with it setting quick time with the Outlaws so that was good."
Both Kaeding and Sides returned to action on Saturday at Wilmot Raceway.
Kaeding qualified fifth quickest before he finished second in a heat race. He then ended fifth in both the dash and main event.
Sides timed in seventh quickest, finished fourth in a heat race and closed the night 15th in the feature.
"TK had another great run up front," Sides said. "We were running eighth for the longest time. This one car came in and whacked me going into turn one and knocked me over the cushion. About four or five cars went by before I could get gathered back up so that cost us a top 10."
Both Kaeding and Sides will compete this Tuesday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, during the Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic and Wednesday through Saturday at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, during the Kings Royal.

Sides Hustles to Top-10 Outing at Cedar Lake Speedway
Inside Line Promotions - NEW RICHMOND, Wis. (July 8, 2019) - Jason Sides rallied to record his fourth top 10 of the season with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series last Saturday at Cedar Lake Speedway.
Sides had started the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown opener well, qualifying sixth quickest and winning a heat race to make the dash on Friday. A sixth-place run in the dash lined him up on the outside of the third row for the A Main, which was postponed until Saturday afternoon because of rain.
"We fell to eighth and I was trying to pass for seventh when I spun in turns three and four," he said. "I got in there too hard and missed the bottom and it came around. We went to the rear and got back to 10 th. I was slowing down and making sure I hit my marks. I was mad at myself so I charged hard through there and made sure I was where I needed to be."
Sides overcame the incident to charge from the back of the field to garner the 10th-place finish thanks to a last-lap pass.
It marked the best result of a week that started out well last Wednesday at Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, S.D., which hosted the Star Spangled Showdown. He tied the track record, which he established in 2016.
"We had the same time as the track record three years ago," he said. "I don't know how that happened. We won our heat race and drew the pole for the dash. As soon as we got out there the track started going away quickly and we ended up fourth. From the drop of the green (in the feature) we sucked. We blew off the end running fourth. I slipped off the corner of turn one. I went to the rear and was trying too hard so I blew off the end of the track again. I tried the bottom and was no good there and spun again. We weren't tight enough, but it was a weird track because it was so good so early and it went away so quick."
Sides held on for a 17th-place result.
The week concluded on Saturday evening at Cedar Lake Speedway, where Sides qualifying 20th quickest.
"We assumed they would rework the track after the afternoon feature," he said. "We got back there and found the rear end was broke. We were fixing it and the officials started blowing the horn for qualifying. We didn't do much with the setup for the qualifying. We went out on a slick track and weren't really prepared."
Sides placed seventh in a heat race, third in the Last Chance Showdown and he overcame a part problem to rally from 21st to 16th in the main event.
"I had passed a few cars early on and about Lap 4 or so the fuel shut off blew apart," he said. "I got soaked with fuel. We went to the work area and got it fixed. We restarted last and ended up 16th."
Tim Kaeding will rejoin the team for the race this Friday at Hartford Speedway in Hartford, Mich., during the Battle of Michigan. The weekend wraps up on Saturday at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis., during the Badger 40.

Sides Ready to Invade Brown County and Cedar Lake This Week
Inside Line Promotions - JACKSON, Minn. (July 2, 2019) - Jason Sides is looking forward to returning to Brown County Speedway this Wednesday for the Star Spangled Showdown, which kicks off a tripleheader week for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.
Sides set a new track record, won a heat race and captured a fifth-place finish during his debut at the track in Aberdeen, S.D., in June 2016.
"We're excited to get back to Brown County, where we were really good three years ago," he said. "You always look forward to going to tracks where you've run well, especially when it's been a couple of years since you've raced there."
Sides will wrap up the week by competing on Friday and Saturday at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown.
"It's a nice track and we've had some decent runs there," he said. "The key will be to qualify well."
Sides qualified mid-pack during the two preliminary nights of the 41 st annual AGCO Jackson Nationals last weekend at Jackson Motorplex. That started him in the middle of a heat race and he finished fifth on Thursday and sixth on Friday.
"So much of your success depends on qualifying," he said. "The heat races were too wet and fast to move forward. We lost a spot on Friday so we had to come out of the Last Chance Showdown, which we won."
Sides placed 20th in the feature on Thursday and 23rd on Friday. He lined up fifth in a heat race to open Saturday's finale.
"The track was a little more racy and were able to get up to third," he said. "We had an opportunity to get second, but James McFadden did well running the bottom. In the feature the track didn't rubber up as quick as we expected. We put on hard tires and felt like a spinning duck for 20 laps. Then it laid rubber and we felt good, but by then it was too late."
Sides ended the event 19th in Saturday's A Main.
QUICK RESULTS -

Sides Aiming for Continued Success at AGCO Jackson Nationals
Inside Line Promotions - BEAVER DAM, Wis. (June 25, 2019) - Jason Sides is heading to one of his favorite tracks this weekend.
Sides and the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series will venture to Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., for the 41st annual AGCO Jackson Nationals. The event pays $41,000 to win the finale.
"It's a good, big event for us and we seem to run decent there," he said. "They cut the track down to a 4/10 mile, but it races pretty much the same as before. It still races like a half mile and we like those."
Sides has earned a pair of top 10s at the track during each of the last two years, including a ninth-place run during the event finale last season. He was also a winner at the oval in 2012 during an Ollie's Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions event.
Sides competed last Saturday at Beaver Dam Raceway, which hosted the Jim "JB" Boyd Memorial presented by Karavan Trailers. He qualified 13 th quickest, but made up for it by maneuvering from fifth to third place in a heat race.
"We were the first car out in qualifying and didn't end up where we wanted to be," he said. "With the track the way it was we had a good run in the heat race and got ourselves toward the front in the feature."
Sides lined up on the inside of the fourth row for the A Main.
"I made a few mistakes in the race," he said. "We were decent, but I felt like we could have been better. I tried a few things that didn't work out like sliding across and letting someone get by.
"The bottom was okay for the start and restarts. Late in the race the momentum you could carry around the top was so much better. Eventually it laid rubber and we moved up there. We probably stayed on the bottom too long."
Sides ended with an 11th-place outing.
Sunday's show at Dubuque Speedway in Dubuque, Iowa, rained out.

Sides Motorsports Partners With Memphis Based Rock Band TORA TORA
Inside Line Promotions - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 17, 2019) - Jason Sides is thrilled to welcome TORA TORA to the Sides Motorsports stable.
TORA TORA is a blues-based hard rock band formed in Memphis, Tenn., in the late 1980s. Band members include Keith Douglas, Patrick Francis, John Patterson and Anthony Corder. TORA has two major releases Surprise Attack/Wild America through A&M Records that promoted five singles and videos (Walkin' Shoes, Guilty, Phantom Rider, Amnesia and Faith Healer). The band recently released a new album titled 'Bastards of Beale.' For more information, visit http://www.TORATORAMusic.com.
"It's an exciting relationship," Sides said. "They are from Memphis and we're from Memphis. A lot of good bands and a lot of good racers come from Memphis. I used to race dirt bikes with guys that were on their setup crew years ago. I've been to several concerts and listened to their music for 20-plus years. We're excited to have them as part of the team."
Sides also debuted a new race car last weekend during the Brownells Big Guns Bash at Knoxville Raceway, which hosted a World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader.
"We put that new car together and with the new car jitters the first night we didn't get qualified real well," he said. "We made a few changes and made the car a lot better throughout that night. The second night we qualified a lot better and therefore your night goes a lot better."
Sides rallied on Friday after timing in 19th quickset in his group. He maneuvered from 10th to seventh in a heat race after making a big change on the car.
"When I'd get to the corners it'd automatically want to turn down on its own like it had too much stagger," he said. "I know the stagger wasn't wrong so I lengthened the left side of the car. We put in a longer radius rod to move the left front forward. Therefore it didn't turn down as quick. It made it a lot better and we were more comfortable for where we were normally at. Just a little bit of a movement can be the difference from it wanting to dart to the infield versus running around there smooth."
Sides capped the night with a 14th-place outing in the Last Chance Showdown.
Saturday's event started much better as Sides qualified ninth quickest in his group. He gained a position to finish fourth in a heat race, which locked him into the A Main. Sides recorded an 18th-place finish in the feature.
Next up for the team will be World of Outlaws shows on Saturday at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam., Wis., for the Jim "JB" Boyd Memorial presented by Karavan Trailers and on Sunday at Dubuque Speedway in Dubuque, Iowa.

Sides Excited for Laps at Knoxville Raceway This Weekend
Inside Line Promotions - SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. (June 10, 2019) - Jason Sides is bound for Knoxville Raceway this weekend to tackle the Brownells Big Guns Bash.
The two-day World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event is the final opportunity to get some laps in at the half-mile oval in Knoxville, Iowa, prior to the Knoxville Nationals in August.
"We have a different car we're going to run there to make sure everything is good," he said. "Without being there any other time you have to use this as a test session. If it works good we'll start using it regularly."
Sides competed in a trio of World of Outlaws races last week, when the start of each night buried him.
"We were trying to save laps on the motors so we had a little older spare engine I wouldn't normally run," he said. "We took our really good engines out to save laps on them for the bigger races this summer."
Sides qualified 20th quickest and advanced from fifth to fourth place in a heat race on Tuesday during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown at Fairbury Speedway in Fairbury, Ill. He closed the night with a 21 st-place showing in the feature.
He headed to River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., on Friday for the Northern Tour. A 24th-place qualifying run was followed with a seventh-place finish in a heat race. Sides gained a handful of positions in the feature to finish 17th.
The weekend concluded on Saturday at Granite City Speedway. He qualified much better with a ninth-place showing, but a fifth-place finish in a heat race lined him up midpack for the main event. He ended the night 16 th.

Sides Venturing to Illinois, North Dakota and Minnesota This Week
Inside Line Promotions - NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 3, 2019) - A trio of World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series races await Jason Sides this week.
The action begins on Tuesday at Fairbury Speedway in Fairbury, Ill., during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown. River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., hosts the Northern Tour on Friday before the weekend wraps up on Saturday at Granite City Speedway in Sauk Rapids, Minn.
"We'll be glad to get back to a normal race track," he said. "Last weekend was fun and all, but it was too tight of racing. I'm looking forward to getting on a track where you can race."
Sides and his teammate Tim Kaeding endured a tough weekend during the inaugural Music City Outlaw Nationals last Friday and Saturday at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.
Both drivers were unable to make the A Main on Friday and Sides led the way on Saturday by recording an 11th-place run.
"The second night they kept up on the track because there's only so much dirt," he said. "Just by starting a little further up we missed a wreck going into turn four in our heat race. We tried to stay out of trouble and stay on the bottom to get ourselves in the dash."
Sides overcame a 20th-place qualifying run by maneuvering from fifth to second place in a heat race. That locked him into the dash. A sixth-place run in the dash lined Sides up on the outside of the third row for the A Main.
"We ran sixth for a lap or two," he said. "They watered and tilled the track trying to make sure we had something to race on. We left the car alone for slicker conditions. We left the car tighter. A couple of guys ran the top and got by us. Then we ran eighth for 20 laps or so. Late in the race you could feel people start beating on one another. Someone got into the back of me and shoved me up the track. Three cars got by so we ended up running 11th."

Sides Motorsports Excited to Showcase Two Cars During Music City Outlaw Nationals
Inside Line Promotions - LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. (May 29, 2019) - Sides Motorsports welcomes the return of Tim Kaeding this weekend when he will join Jason Sides as drivers in a two-car team during the Music City Outlaw Nationals.
For the first time in history the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series will invade Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, Tenn., on Friday and Saturday for the spectacle. The paved track will have dirt covering it.
"It will be something neat and something to do," Sides said. "At the same time it will be different because it's dirt on asphalt. Anything can happen when you have that scenario."
The track is the closest to Sides' shop - only a two and a half hour journey. That's a welcome travel schedule following a recent busy week with four races in three states during a one-week span.
Sides highlighted the action by scoring a top-10 result on Saturday at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., where he maneuvered from 15 th to eighth during the Patriot Nationals finale.
"The biggest thing is you could see the track going black after the late models," he said. "We tried staying out of the black for the first eight or 10 laps knowing it's been pretty abrasive. The goal is to keep the tires under you and not get too sideways. We were in tire conservation mode more than anything. The bottom was pretty decent the first little bit. The other guys went directly to the top in the black. I think that's what helped us conserve."
Sides also placed 22nd at Bridgeport Speedway in Swedesboro, N.J., on May 21; he finished 20th at The Dirt Track at Charlotte on Friday; and he ended seventh in the Last Chance Showdown to miss a spot into the Memorial Day Spectacle presented by KOI Auto Parts main event on Monday at Lawrenceburg Speedway.

Sides Set for Busy Week in New Jersey, North Carolina and Indiana
Inside Line Promotions - WEEDSPORT, N.Y. (May 20, 2019) - Jason Sides starts a busy holiday week this Tuesday at Bridgeport Speedway, where the World of Outlaw NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series will make its first visit since 2003.
Sides competed during that event 16 years ago, placing 16th after coming out of the Last Chance Showdown on the 5/8-mile oval in Swedesboro, N.J. It has been shortened to a 3/8-mile track.
"It's been quite a few years since we've been there and they've changed the track since then so it's like we're going to a new track," he said. "Hopefully we can lay down a good qualifying lap to start on the right foot."
Sides will then head south to The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., to tackle the Patriot Nationals on Friday and Saturday. He earned a career-best runner-up result at there in 2013. He also placed second at the oval in 2009 and he has five top fives and 15 top 10s there dating back to 2007.
"It's a confidence booster rolling into a track where you've been successful and have competed for wins," he said. "It's nice to have a two-day show at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in the spring, too."
The week concludes next Monday at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Ind., for the Memorial Day Spectacle presented by KOI Auto Parts. His most recent top 10 at Lawrenceburg Speedway came in 2012 when Sides rallied from 17th to 10th in the main event.
Sides is coming off a week in Central Pennsylvania where qualifying put him behind the eight ball on Wednesday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown during the Gettysburg Clash presented by Drydene and on Friday and Saturday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg during the Morgan Cup.
"Qualifying is important at every race, but it's pretty much make or break when you're racing in Central Pennsylvania," he said. "The competition is so good and deep that it doesn't usually allow for you to charge through the field so you need to lay down good qualifying laps. We didn't do that and it buried us."
Sunday's race at Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport, N.Y., rained out.
QUICK RESULTS -
May 15 - Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa. - Qualifying: 14; Heat race: 8 (7); B Main: 13 (10).

Tim Kaeding Leads Sides Motorsports to Top 10 at Eldora Speedway
Inside Line Promotions - ROSSBURG, Ohio (May 13, 2019) - Tim Kaeding guided Sides Motorsports to a top-10 result last Friday at Eldora Speedway.
"It was the first time he'd been at Eldora in about five years so it was a pretty good night," team owner Jason Sides said. "For us it was like we were just there. We needed to be better earlier in the night with having a six-heat format since there were so many cars."
Kaeding qualified sixth quickest in his group and he won a heat race to lock himself into a dash. He advanced from fourth to third place before capping the night with a seventh-place outing in the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series main event.
Sides laid down the 10th quickest qualifying time in his group, but a fourth-place finish in a heat race was one position shy of locking into the main event. That relegated him to the Last Chance Showdown. He placed fifth to transfer into the 23rd starting spot in the main event.
"I got going decent on the bottom, but it seemed like the leaders came by on the top fairly quickly," he said. "It's tricky because you don't want to mess up their race, but momentum is so important at Eldora that when you get out of line or slow down at all it allows people you are racing with by. We lost a couple of positions that way."
Sides ended with a 20th-place result.
Saturday's show rained out.
Sides has a busy week on tap beginning Wednesday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa., for the Gettysburg Clash presented by Drydene. The action shifts to Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., for the Morgan Cup on Friday and Saturday. Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport, N.Y., hosts the Empire State Challenge on Sunday.

Sides Motorsports Welcomes Tim Kaeding Back for Eldora Doubleheader
Inside Line Promotions - BARTLETT, Tenn. (May 6, 2019) - Sides Motorsports will have a two-car team at Eldora Speedway this weekend.
Tim Kaeding is joining Jason Sides as team drivers during the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader at the high-banked oval on Friday and Saturday.
"I don't think TK's been there in a while so it'll be fun to watch him," Sides said. "It helps me because it's another driver that can talk about what we need to do. I think it's good to have two guys bouncing ideas off each other."
Sides has two career World of Outlaws wins at Eldora Speedway. He won the Kings Royal in 2004 and was victorious during a World of Outlaws show in 2009.
"I figure with all the weather the track will be somewhat wetter than normal, which could be good," he said. "There might be a top and a bottom."
World of Outlaws races rained out last weekend at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., and at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind.

Sides Battles Wet Weather Throughout Long Weekend
Inside Line Promotions - JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (April 30, 2019) - Mother Nature wasn't favorable last weekend for Jason Sides and the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.
Sides had a three-race weekend scheduled, but only the first night on Friday at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., was completed. He qualified 14th quickest and placed fourth in a heat race to lock into the 14 th starting position for the main event.
"It started off halfway decent," he said. "I did what I thought we were supposed to do and ran around there on the cushion during qualifying. I had what I thought was a decent time. Someone in our group went to the bottom and picked up half a second. Then everyone went to the bottom. We went from being third or fourth quick to 14th quick. It wasn't very good.
"They tilled the track and I thought we were going to be pretty good for the A Main, but we were a little tight. Halfway through the race it blew off. I got in behind Brian Brown and he checked up. I spun myself around and went through the infield and came back out a lap down. Then we had a red flag. That helped where the tires cooled and I ended up passing four or five cars that we were racing with."
Sides rallied for a 17th-place run.
Saturday's show at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., rained out and an event on Sunday at Jacksonville Speedway didn't end much better. Sides qualified 17th quickest in his group and ended ninth in a heat race before rain washed out the action before the Last Chance Showdown took the green flag.
Sides will race close to home this Friday when the World of Outlaws invade Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark.
"It'd be fun if we do get it in," he said. "It's good to run close to home so the people who don't get to travel can see us."
The weekend concludes on Saturday at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind.

Sides Set for World of Outlaws Tripleheader at Lake Ozark Speedway, Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 and Jacksonville Speedway
Inside Line Promotions - BARTLETT, Tenn. (April 22, 2019) - Jason Sides is rejuvenated following his first scheduled weekend off since February.
Sides recharged his batteries at home with his family last weekend while the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series was off for the final time until the first weekend in November.
"It was a good off weekend at home with family and now we're recharged and ready to get back at it this weekend," he said.
A World of Outlaws tripleheader is on tap as the series ventures to Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., on Friday; Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., on Saturday; and Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill., on Sunday.
Sides has improved his feature finish during three career World of Outlaws starts at Lake Ozark Speedway, including a 14th-place result last year.
An Outlaws win in 2012 highlighted many starts at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55.
"The track is fun to run," he said. "You can run the top, bottom or middle. It's a fun race track to run around even if you're not in the lead. It's just a fun track to rip around."
Sides has competed at Jacksonville Speedway twice, posting his career-best finish of eighth during his debut in 2014.

Sides Rallies Late During Texas Outlaw Nationals at Devil's Bowl Speedway
Inside Line Promotions - MESQUITE, Texas (April 15, 2019) - It's hard to dig out of a hole, which is the position Jason Sides was in last Friday at Devil's Bowl Speedway.
Sides qualified 17th quickest during the opening night of the Texas Outlaw Nationals. With impending weather on the way track conditions were tricky all night.
"If you look at qualifying I think they knew rain was coming so they didn't put a lot of water on it," he said. "We were really good in hot laps. We put some tires on and went back out for qualifying and we ended up darn near where we went out. It wasn't real good, but quick time was one of the first cars and it kept falling off. That put us behind."
A seventh-place run in a heat race relegated Sides to the Last Chance Showdown. He finished second in the race to transfer into the 20 th starting position for the main event.
"It was thundering and lightning," he said. "We put another pair of used tires on there and 20 gallons of fuel. We didn't even expect the whole feature to get in. It was spitting rain as we were lining up, but we got it in. We passed a couple of cars just getting underneath them. The track rubbered up pretty heavily all the way through. The biggest part was coming off the corners. It was solid rubber off turn four and halfway down the front straightaway and off turn two halfway down the back straightaway."
Sides gained four positions - tied for the second-most cars passed - to finish 16th.
Saturday's finale rained out.
The team will take this weekend off before resuming Outlaws competition April 26 at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo.; April 27 at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo.; and April 28 at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill.

It's All 'Gravy' for Sides Motorsports During World of Outlaws Stop in Arizona
Inside Line Promotions - QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. (April 8, 2019) - Sides Motorsports added a little 'Gravy' to its plate last weekend.
Crew member Stephen Fairfield, who earned the nickname 'Gravy' thanks to a special moment during a dinner outing last year, piloted a second Sides Motorsports entry on Friday at USA Raceway in Tucson, Ariz., during the Wildcat Shootout.
"Some of the tracks we go to we have low car counts so someone needs to bring down a backup car to make sure we're in the three-heat format," Jason Sides said. "We did that and had him drive it on Friday. It was his first time starting a sprint car."
While Sides and Fairfield both ended the night early in the main event, the internet was won as everyone hopped on the 'Gravy' boat.
The team went back to one car the ensuing night at Arizona Speedway during the Arizona Desert Shootout. Sides qualified 15th quickest, placed sixth in a heat race and advanced two positions to end 16 th in the main event.
"The race track was kind of narrow and you couldn't do a lot of passing, but the bottom was decent," he said. "We were a little tight the first few laps and then it got going good. The leaders got to me. I stayed on the bottom and all of the sudden the bottom came to us. We pulled away from Sheldon (Haudenschild) and passed a couple of cars. The car got better toward the end of the night and we made some gains."
This week's challenge is the Texas Outlaw Nationals on Friday and Saturday at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas.
"We've had some really good runs there," Sides said. "We're definitely looking forward to getting back toward the Midwest and to some tracks where we've had some better runs on."

Sides Seeking Return to Top Five During Doubleheader in Arizona
Inside Line Promotions - PERRIS, Calif. (April 2, 2019) - Jason Sides is bound for the desert to wrap up the first western swing of the season for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.
Sides and 'The Greatest Show on Dirt' will visit USA Raceway in Tucson, Ariz., on Friday during the Wildcat Shootout and Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz., on Saturday during the Arizona Desert Shootout.
"We haven't been to Tucson in a couple of years so we're looking forward to getting back there," he said. "The track in Queen Creek has gotten better the last couple of years and they've got a handle on it. You can run around the top or the bottom."
Sides won a dash and finished a career-best fourth at USA Raceway in 2007 and he scored his career-best run of fifth place during the 2017 event at Arizona Speedway.
Sides competed in California last weekend during a World of Outlaws doubleheader. The action began on Friday at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, where Sides qualified 14th quickest and advanced from fourth to third in a heat race to lock into the 10th starting position for the main event.
"We were really good early," he said. "The next thing I know it was like a light switch. I was running the top and they started passing me on the bottom. I went to the bottom and couldn't hold it down there. Even when I went back to the top I had no traction and started fading toward the back."
The night was also the final race of the swing for teammate Tim Kaeding, who qualified 12th quickest, placed sixth in a heat, won the Last Chance Showdown and rallied from 21st to 16th in the A Main.
The weekend concluded on Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway during the SoCal Showdown. Sides qualified 18th quickest. A seventh-place run in a heat race and fifth-place finish in the Last Chance Showdown locked him into the final row of the main event. He gained a handful of positions to finish 19th.
"We passed a few cars and then on one of the restarts everyone bottled up in turn one," he said. "I was going faster than I thought and had to pitch it sideways to keep from running over someone. I had to restart last and then made my way up to 19th before the rubber came in."

Sides Motorsports Wrapping Up California Swing at Keller Auto Speedway and Perris Auto Speedway
Inside Line Promotions - PLACERVILLE, Calif. (March 25, 2019) - This weekend will be the final one as a two-car team for Sides Motorsports for a few weeks.
Jason Sides and Tim Kaeding will both compete for the team on Friday at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, Calif., but only Sides will race on Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, Calif., during the SoCal Showdown with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.
"It's a lot of work doing two cars, but being able to bounce ideas off each other has helped," Sides said. "I've also learned some from his advice on how to run some of the tracks out here."
Kaeding claimed a World of Outlaws event at Keller Auto Speedway in 2003. Sides recorded his career-best result at the track during his most recent visit in 2017 when he charged from 23rd to a sixth-place finish.
"It's been a decent track for both of us," Sides said. "They changed the track a bit. I've been told it makes it like a dogleg on the backstretch so it makes running the top that much further around. In the back of your mind you know you ran good the last time you were there so that's a positive. You start where you ended that night from your notes and hope you're on the right path."
Sides also scored his career-best performance at Perris Auto Speedway during his last race in 2017. His eighth-place run also marked his third straight top 10 at the half-mile oval.
"More than likely it'll be a twin heat race format for a lack of cars," he said. "Qualifying is important as always. If you get on the front row of a heat you can get yourself in the dash and that much further ahead for the remainder of the night."
World of Outlaws races last Friday at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif., and Saturday at Placerville Speedway in Placerville, Calif., rained out.

Kaeding Hustles Sides Motorsports Ride to Podium at Stockton Dirt Track
Inside Line Promotions - STOCKTON, Calif. (March 18, 2019) - Sides Motorsports registered its second podium finish of the season on Saturday during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown at Stockton Dirt Track.
Tim Kaeding qualified 17th quickest before he gained a spot to finish fourth in a World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series heat race. That lined him up on the inside of the seventh row for the main event.
"Within the first few laps he was up to seventh or eighth and kept picking his way through there," team owner Jason Sides said. "He was really good passing cars by going wherever they weren't. Once he got to the front it was a little less chaotic. I think at one point he was up to second before finishing third."
Kaeding's third-place outing was the team's best finish since placing second last month in Las Vegas. The strong performance came on the heels of a disappointing ending to a stout night the previous evening at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif., during the Silver Dollar Shootout presented by Reibes NAPA Auto Parts.
Kaeding timed in second quickest in his group's qualifying round. He then won a heat race before picking up a position to place third in the dash.
"It was a pretty good night going all the way until someone went in there and hit him early in the A Main," Sides said. "It didn't hurt anything but the top wing. We got him back out there. We had some brake issues early in the night. He was having to ride the brakes to keep them pumped up. He got back up to 14th after restarting at the back. One lap going down the backstretch he wasn't able to ride the brakes. He got into the dust and then didn't have any brakes. He went up and over and that was enough. It wasn't worth going back out there and restarting at the back without good brakes."
Sides' weekend wasn't as fun as qualifying got him behind the eight ball and he elected not to start feature events on the tricky tracks.
Both Sides and Kaeding will be back in World of Outlaws action this Friday at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif., during the Ocean Outlaw Showdown and Saturday at Placerville Speedway in Placerville, Calif., during the 49er Gold Rush Classic presented by Riebes NAPA Auto Parts.

Sides Motorsports Nearly Scores Podium Finish in Tulare
Inside Line Promotions - TULARE, Calif. (March 11, 2019) - Tim Kaeding nearly made the most of a short weekend for Sides Motorsports at Thunderbowl Raceway, where he was in contention for a podium finish on Saturday night.
The opening night of the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader rained out last Friday. Kaeding led the way for Sides Motorsports on Saturday, qualifying ninth quickest overall before he advanced from third to second place in a heat race to make the dash.
Kaeding gained a position in the dash to place sixth and he was on a mission in the main event, maneuvering into the top three by the midpoint of the race.
"He passed a couple of cars early and was running down (Daryn) Pittman for second," Jason Sides said. "Unfortunately, there was a puff of smoke and he pulled into the infield with mechanical problems."
Kaeding was credited with a 20th-place run after the DNF with 14 laps remaining.
Sides ended his night early as well. He timed in 26th in qualifying, but elected not to start the heat race and Last Chance Showdown because of the conditions.
"I didn't feel comfortable racing with it raining off and on all night," he said. "We've seen what's happened in the past when it's rained and the track is heavy and fast."
Both Sides and Kaeding will return to World of Outlaws action this Friday at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif., during the Silver Dollar Shootout presented by Reibes NAPA Auto Parts and Saturday at Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif., during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown.
"We both have had good runs at both Silver Dollar Speedway and Stockton so we're looking forward to it," Sides said. "Hopefully the weather cooperates this week and we'll have two good nights of racing."

Kaeding and Sides Produce Strong Finishes in Las Vegas for Sides Motorsports
Inside Line Promotions - LAS VEGAS (March 4, 2019) - Both Tim Kaeding and Jason Sides posted top-10 results for Sides Motorsports last week during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown presented by Star Nursery.
Kaeding picked up a runner-up result on Wednesday during the opening night of the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas before Sides netted a ninth-place run on Thursday.
"To make both shows and have one car run second and ours run in the top 10, it went well," Sides said. "In theory I'd like to see us both in the top five, but all in all it was a good weekend for us."
Kaeding qualified 11th quickest in his group before he powered from sixth to third place in a heat race on Wednesday. He capped the night by charging from 10th to second place in the main event.
"He was damn good," Sides said. "We had enough fuel to make the last four laps so I'd have liked to see it run the last few laps without a fuel stop. He had so much momentum going into the corners he could catch them going in. That'd get him off the corner as well. He seemed like he had so much more speed than the others."
Kaeding was just as strong on Thursday, timing in third quickest in his group before a third-place run in a heat lined him up on the inside of the fifth row for the A Main. He quickly rallied toward the top five, but he narrowly clipped an infield tire to end the night early.
Meanwhile Sides improved throughout both nights of action on the half-mile oval. He qualified 13th quickest in his group on Wednesday. Advancing from seventh to fifth place in a heat race locked him into the A Main. However, he pulled off the track midway through the race while struggling with the setup.
Sides' best outing came the ensuing night when he timed in fifth quickest in his group and won a heat race from third. That earned a spot into the dash and a runner-up result lined him up on the outside of the front row for the main event.
"I had a couple of decent starts, but on one or two restarts I was in the wrong lane and it slipped and let three or four cars go by," he said. "The last six or eight laps we were trying to survive. The tires were pretty bad and we needed to go out with a good finish so we were pretty conservative."
Sides salvaged a ninth-place result.
Both he and Kaeding will be in Sides Motorsports' entries this Friday and Saturday at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., with the World of Outlaws. Kaeding is tied for the most Outlaws wins at the track with four career visits to Victory Lane.

Sides Motorsports Welcoming Tim Kaeding to Team This Week
Inside Line Promotions - LAS VEGAS (Feb. 25, 2019) - Sides Motorsports will field a winged sprint car for veteran Tim Kaeding during approximately 30 races this season.
The first test comes this Wednesday and Thursday at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas during the FVP Platinum Battery presented by Star Nursery. Both Jason Sides and Kaeding will compete during the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader. The team will then venture to Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif., on Saturday for the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Series season opener with only Kaeding behind the wheel.
"I hope we have the same continued success as last year," Sides said. "It seemed like every time he was in the car it was good so we're looking to capitalize on that. Hopefully we can have some decent runs and get a few wins."
Both drivers have had success at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas.
Sides has recorded seven top-five finishes and nine top 10s in 17 races at the half-mile oval since 2009, including three straight runner-up results in 2012 and 2013. He also secured at least one top-10 finish at the track each season for eight straight years before a weekend of bad luck stopped the streak in 2017.
"We've been decent there quite a few times and I'm not sure if it's the way I get around the track, the way the track is laid out or what it is," he said. "It usually has a good bottom and top and races well. It's been good for us in the past."
Kaeding won World of Outlaws races at the track in 2012 and 2013.
"One night he won I ran second and the next time I was third," Sides said. "We've had good runs there together. Having both cars in the top three both nights would be bad ass."
Last weekend's World of Outlaws races at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, Texas, and at LoneStar Speedway in Kilgore, Texas, rained out.

Sides Charges to Top 10 During Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s Opener
Inside Line Promotions - TAMPA, Fla. (Feb. 20, 2019) - Jason Sides was in contention for a top-10 result during the Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s finale on Saturday before a mechanical problem ended the event early.
Sides produced a pair of solid outings during the two preliminary nights at East Bay Raceway Park to put himself in a great position entering Saturday night.
"It's a tough track to run and we only get to race there once a year," he said. "I actually think we hit on something and I'll know where to start the event next year."
Sides rallied from eighth to fifth place in a heat race before he won a B Main to garner a transfer into the rear of the main event on Thursday. He then charged from 20th to eighth in the A Main.
"We made progress throughout the night after starting in the back of a heat race," he said. "That event is all about passing cars and accumulating points so to rally like we did put us in a good position."
Sides powered from fourth to second place in a heat race on Friday. That locked him into the main event, in which a 14th-place run put him seventh in overall preliminary points out of more than 50 drivers. With one of the top six drivers in points not racing on Saturday it moved Sides into the feature redraw. He then pulled the No. 2 to start the A Main on the outside of the front row.
"We hot lapped with the car full of fuel to get the feel and it felt really good," he said. "We had a good car and ran in the top 10 the whole time, but I felt something mechanically with about 10 laps to go and we didn't want to tear anything up so we pulled in."
Sides will return to World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series action this Friday at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, Texas, and Saturday at LoneStar Speedway in Kilgore, Texas, during the East Texas LoneStar Shootout.
Sides posted his career-best result of 14th last year during his second career race at Cotton Bowl Speedway. He finished a career-best fifth in 2010 at LoneStar Speedway.

Sides Garners Top-10 Finish During DIRTcar Nationals Event
Inside Line Promotions - BARBERVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 12, 2019) - Jason Sides highlighted his DIRTcar Nationals by scoring a top-10 result last Saturday.
The five-day extravaganza hosted by Volusia Speedway Park started on Wednesday with an Ollie's Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions show. Sides qualified 16th quickest overall and third in his group before placing third in a heat race. He capped the night by finishing 20th in the main event.
"We like to use that first night as a test to make sure everything is in order prior to the World of Outlaws races," he said. "We were able to run some laps and dial everything in a bit in preparation for the weekend shows."
Sides took the ensuing night off to prepare for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series season opener on Friday. He opened that show by timing in 22nd quickest and ending sixth in a heat race, which was only one spot shy of locking into the A Main. That relegated Sides to the Last Chance Showdown, in which he powered from fifth to second to garner a transfer.
"The track started to widen out during the second half of the night and we made most of our progress on the bottom," he said. "It was tough to make up a ton of ground in the A Main starting at the back. The bottom lane went away midway through the race and we gave up most of the positions we had gained. In the end qualifying put us behind the eight ball because I think if we had qualified in the top 10 we could have run up there in the feature."
Sides finished 20th in the main event for the second straight race.
He returned to the half-mile oval on Saturday, qualifying ninth quickest to kick off the action. Sides finished where he started - third - in a heat race before doing the same thing in the main event, posting a ninth-place finish.
"The biggest difference was that we qualified much better," he said. "It's a lot easier to maintain your position than it is to pass a bunch of cars because everyone is so even. Fortunately qualifying went well and that helped the rest of the night go well."
It gives Sides at least one top 10 during the DIRTcar Nationals in 12 of the last 13 years.
Sunday's finale was rained out.
The team is scheduled to compete in its lone 360ci winged sprint car event of the season this Thursday through Saturday at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Fla., during the Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s.
"This is an event where we're able to support Wetherington Tractor Service, Inc., which has roots in the area," he said. "Kimball and his team have been long-time supporters of our team as well as East Bay so it's always a good time to go support this event that's in their backyard."
