Jason Sides returns to Davenport Speedway Wednesday, June 14th with high expections after running second in his last visit there with the World Of Outlaws.
“We ran very well there considering I had a collapsed wing panel” said Sides. “The race we had was pretty intense, considering that we all swapped back and forth from second to fifth place throughout the A-main.”
Sides’ second place finish at Davenport was a season high for the driver of the Sides Motorsports Wetherington Tractor Service-sponsored entry.
“My Don Ott motors are hitting on all eight right now,” continued Sides with a laugh. “We didn’t need all that Ott power a few weeks ago though at Fremont. After our qualifying events, we pulled the 410 and stuck my 360 in the car. I figured we didn’t have anything to lose and everything to gain since we were starting 24th.”
And gain they did.
Sides drove the 360-powered MAXIM from 24th starting spot to a top ten finish, passing guys like Steve Kinser and NST point leader Tim Kaeding in the event.
“After the race, Steve (Kinser) came strolling down to my pit,” laughed Sides. “He took one look at the engine compartment to make sure it was my 360. Kinser grinned and said I guess I gotta get me one of those and carry it around now too.”
Sides had a consistent East coast swing, running sixth at Selinsgrove, driving from 20th to 11th at Hagerstown, and finishing 12th at Susquehanna. Sides had never raced at Selinsgrove or Susquehanna in his career.
